Ryan was entitled to make that tackle, Crocker was his man and Crocker hadn't broken the line yet, it was good slide defence during a crucial part of the game.
Sattler ran down a winger (even if he was a slow one) and also a much younger man

I'll go (against the flow) with Ryan. Trying to be unbiased here, but this is my reasoning:

  • Sattler's tackle occurred in the 54th minute, so the if the Roosters scored, the Panther still had 26 minutes to try and find a reply. If they couldn't find a reply, did they really deserve to win?
  • Ryan's tackle occurred with 15 seconds left on the clock, and unlike Sattlers tackle, this ensured that the Bulldogs won the Grand Final.

I was watching the clip last night, and couldn't help but think 'f**k I hope Priddis is scoring like that for the Dragons come October'.

So good.

Against the flow... It's 85-3. Of those 3 votes one was yours so doesn't count, and another was ByRd who admitted the Sattler tackle but gave Ryan the vote just so he wasn't on zero.

Why does the time in which the tackle occured determine how good the tackle is? By your reckoning Darren Albert's try in 97 will forever be the best try ever in all of rugby league
