three games in 5 days and watch their crowds fall!
what happened to brisbane being the new home of rugby league ?!
Not exactly maximising your potential attendances, is it? And to think they also had the Brisbane/Manly match orginally scheduled for this week as well. Genius work NRL.Brutus said:The scheduling is an absolute joke.
I have no doubt the Cows v Dogs could have got 20-25,000 had it not been squeezed between an origin and Broncos game.
But the reality is that it has nothing to do with the Broncos and their self interest, nor with Queenslanders having a whinge. It's about RL once again shooting itself in the foot (thanks this time to the NRL). The situation in Sydney is not strictly comparable. With the number of teams and the number of games that city therefore needs to host, playing multiple games on the same weekend (each potentially eating into the others crowd) can't be avoided. There's room to argue whether that is the optimal situation we could have in Sydney or not. But the question in Brisbane is why on earth we're playing two and three games on the same weekend when there are still a large number of completely RL free weekends each season (at the top level anyway). It just doesn't make financial sense. It's almost as if we as a game are saying to fans, "Here we'll leave as many spare weekends as possible for you to go and spend your money on an alternative pastime. Try going to the Lions or seeing a movie, you might like find you like it more than our game." Sheesh, talk about giving the opposition a break.t-ba said:All of the Queenslanders currently gnashing their teeth at 'poor scheduling' better remember this next time they bag out Sydney Crowds...

And what's this home of rugby league crap? I am partial to suggesting that Huddersfield might have a better claim than Sydney, Brisbane or anywhere else.
You are a complete idiot mate. There are plenty of NthQlders in Brisbane, not too mention those who would've travelled for the weekend to see origin and this game. Canterbury (like many other old NSWRL teams) has a fan base in Qld.
North Queensland and Melbourne in Sydney puts two teams from different states on show in a third state. Just ludicrous to say they are comparable.
Some people can sydney bash well, you are just a rank amatuer.
