All of the Queenslanders currently gnashing their teeth at 'poor scheduling' better remember this next time they bag out Sydney Crowds...

I think you'll find it was still a higher crowd than it would've gotten elsewhere.

The scheduling is an absolute joke.

I have no doubt the Cows v Dogs could have got 20-25,000 had it not been squeezed between an origin and Broncos game.
Not exactly maximising your potential attendances, is it? And to think they also had the Brisbane/Manly match orginally scheduled for this week as well. Genius work NRL.

But the reality is that it has nothing to do with the Broncos and their self interest, nor with Queenslanders having a whinge. It's about RL once again shooting itself in the foot (thanks this time to the NRL). The situation in Sydney is not strictly comparable. With the number of teams and the number of games that city therefore needs to host, playing multiple games on the same weekend (each potentially eating into the others crowd) can't be avoided. There's room to argue whether that is the optimal situation we could have in Sydney or not. But the question in Brisbane is why on earth we're playing two and three games on the same weekend when there are still a large number of completely RL free weekends each season (at the top level anyway). It just doesn't make financial sense. It's almost as if we as a game are saying to fans, "Here we'll leave as many spare weekends as possible for you to go and spend your money on an alternative pastime. Try going to the Lions or seeing a movie, you might like find you like it more than our game." Sheesh, talk about giving the opposition a break.

Compare apples with Apples. What would a game between the Storm and the Cowboys get in Sydney? Probably 4,000. If you're lucky. 15,000 in Brisbane is an awesome result.

And what's this home of rugby league crap? I am partial to suggesting that Huddersfield might have a better claim than Sydney, Brisbane or anywhere else.

how is North Queensland (QLD) v Canterbury (NSW) in Brisbane (QLD) comparable to,

North Queensland (QLD) v Melbourne (VIC) in Sydney (NSW)???

You are a complete idiot mate. There are plenty of NthQlders in Brisbane, not too mention those who would've travelled for the weekend to see origin and this game. Canterbury (like many other old NSWRL teams) has a fan base in Qld.

North Queensland and Melbourne in Sydney puts two teams from different states on show in a third state. Just ludicrous to say they are comparable.

Some people can sydney bash well, you are just a rank amatuer.

You are, of course, completely correct. Mea culpa.

A game between two Sydney teams in Sydney is usually lucky to get 15,000. Let alone two teams from at least a thousand Kms away.

How are those Origin tickets selling down there? Don't bother answering.

It is comparable. Where is the wisdom in playing two of three available Sydney Fixtures on a weekend on a saturday when there are FOUR days available for scheduling? This is frequent and often, and even dumber when you consider that Sunday afternoon is traditionally the strongest day for crowds in Sydney.

Whoever in control of NRL scheduling is an idiot...But when the issue happens in SEQLD, don't expect special dispensation.

Also, if the problem of Sydney crowds cannibalising one another isn't completely avoidable, why do people in their Ivory towers seem content to bag Sydney out mercilessly for their 'terrible' crowds? What is good for the goose is good for the gander...

WTF has happened to Sharks crowds????

They're bracing themselves for the inevitable relocation. They should have merged with the Steelers when they had the chance to...
