Crowd for Monday Night Football - a respectable 24,127 despite pouring rain....

Hmm a few clubs will need to ask the question how come despite the weather this game could still draw a reasonable crowd?
Difficult to gauge this result, I think .. it would be a bit unfair on the Rabbitohs - who look like they're going to FINALLY turn the corner and become a respectable, modern football club - to credit the Roosters with this crowd number. Although it's perhaps scary to think that it took a traditional Sydney club nearly 20 years of failure to wake up and realise that football clubs require more ability than what's needed to run a chook raffle nowadays ...

good crowd tonight imo , the crowd came in really late though. Not sure what they said on the tv as i was at the game but did they delay the start due to people turning up late?

7.20 would probably be a better kick off time.

on another note there was a massive turn out from the members tonight , probably 4/5's full.

What's the population of Cronulla?

Versus the population of the Central Coast market?

I'm intrigued with an idea of the Central Coast Sharks? Or Maybe the Makos?

Well if crowds are your solution:crazy: then your mob (Melbourne) should be moved to CC. 10 years of poor averages, waste of NRL $$.

Crowds are your problem mate...not ours. Dont look now, but Melbourne is quickly becoming one of the strengths the NRL have got in their corner. Healthy (and growing) crowds, marketable players, good results (touch wood), large tv viewing audience (when shown).

What's cronulla got? Im sorry, but apart from rioting, cronulla aint got much in terms of attention of late.

Come the start of 2010 season, the Storm will be playing in a $250 million, purpose built, Rugby League Stadium..and what will Cronulla have? 9,000 wet, miserable people, welcoming in another year of mediocrity? Possibly.

People are quick to bag the Storm, but the Storm are one of the few things looking up for the NRL at the moment, along with the Broncos, Cowboys and the Titans. However, there are some Sydney clubs which are looking like a cardiac arrest is imminent..Cronulla is front of queue.

Great atmosphere at the game tonight, the rain probably turned away 4-5,000 thousand.

That will be the Chooks' biggest crowd for the year by a long way.

And if they are smart and take another game to the SCG like late last year, they will also get a similar turn up.

I'm stunned there are no SCG games scheduled as yet for 2007. :?

Provided the weather is fine, ANZAC always brings in a brilliant crowd.

The difference is this year, it will finally count to the Roosters home averages instead of Saints

In the next 5-10 years the NRL need to slowly phase out Cronulla and Penrith.... enter CC Sharks and Western Panthers.

All the other Sydney teams bring something worthwhile to the table and have potential to grow whereas Cronulla and Penrith simply don't.

Finally?

Last year was our home game (I think the crowd was 30k), but the 32k bumper in 2005 was the Roosters home game.

As far as I'm aware it has alternated every year.

Correct.

'04 was Souths home game, '05 Roosters, '06 Saints, and now '07 will be Roosters again.

It will also breach 30K again.

Doesn't mean these juniors will disappear.. they will simply be signed up by other NRL clubs
