Before someone else points it out: Yes, these were the seasons when we hosted the ANZAC Day game at Aussie Stadium.

I'm talking Home support where they haven't broken 15,000. EG in 2006 it was 13,800.

Part of the drawcard at Leichhardt now is the fact there's no more than 3 games there a season. That in itself brings people through the gate. Guarantee that if they played 12 there the crowds would return to their woeful state.

Big stadiums with good facilities are what's needed - with 2 or 3 games at the "old guard". That will bring the fans back. I.e. Dragons playing 6 Aussie/Telstra (their choice), 3 WIN and 3 OKI... those last 6 games would almost certainly be packed houses.

Another question that has to be raised though - how much of the blame falls on the NRL for poor scheduling... OKI would be packed on a Sunday arvo... Friday's aren't always good.

You guys are lucky to have a Leagues Club that owns half of Southern Brisbane, that's all I can say. ;-)

not really, the clubs in canberra are quite weathly too, corperate sponsorship is at an all time high and our membership is over 8000 now, which id think would be up there with the top NRL clubs.

we are sweet, the only part about the raiders organisation thats not coming up trump right now is our onfeild performance and crowds... and the on field performance will increase alot over the next 12 months, which should equate to much better crowds... the canberra public love a winner.

Only if you don't count the ANZAC Day game. This was a St. George Illawarra home game so I don't see how you can not count it as part of our home support average.

Well the scheduling of games is another part of the problem. If the seasons schedule was done at the start of the season. I could now make arrangements to go see a round 17 clash, book my accomodation etc. Clubs could also market their games easier to out of town supporters by offering game packages including accomodation. This 5 week lead in thing is just crap, the NRL needs to stop be dicated to, and start dicating what they want.

It's rolling this year, so slightly better. Up to 11 rounds ahead may be known at any one time apparently.

Thats why there'll be 10,000+ on the hill alone at Leichhardt today.
I saw plent of empty plastic seats last night.

And if the Tigers played all their games at Leichhardt during the season you would also see crowds of 5-10,000. Leichhardt crowds are good these days because they play few games there - it's called novelty value.

I know it's a different sport, but it looks like there are about 10,000 at the Reds game at Suncorp. Great stuff (and no I am not watching it).

The Illawarra region LOVES their footy - next weeks game against NQ I'd expect close to 17-18k.
Yeah they do, but it doesn't translate into bums on seats as well as you think it would. Rarely get more than 15000 and I'd be surprised if they did next week either.

The same fixture in the same round last season drew 17,400 to wollongong so perhaps you have a point. However the Dragons home average last season was 13,800. Below the league average. This year they start with 12,400 Let's be brutally honest. There is not a shred of evidence to support the claim that they are "the best supported club".

No offence to the Dragons on here. no offence at all but let's can the "best and biggest' claim because it is nonsense.
part of the Dragons claim is the huge away support they get in places like Brisbane and NQ.

21396 at Townsville was slightly disappointing for me. A balmy night, first home game of the new season, coming off a big win over the Broncos in the local derby in Brisbane, it should have brought more in. Again the media had stories of an expected sell-out, we fell over 5K short.

16k @ Pemriff
12k @ Kogarah
15k @ Leichhardt
9k @ Canbwa
21k @ Townsville

Rough average of 14,600. Slightly more than that obviously but it's early Sunday and I CBF.
