Good crowd for the capacity at Sharkies.

Brooky looks packed to the rafters too.

Can the dimwits at RLHQ get the message from this? Suburban rugby league is a winner, at night or in the daytime. Rack off this all Sydney teams playing home games at Homebush and quarter-filling a massive contrete stadium idea, and if Gallop is serious about supporting Sydney teams to cope and thrive, then let them pick their preferred kick-off days and times to maximise the crowds, and let the TV rights-holders just cope with it.

Foxtel have their subscribers money in the bank anyway, they can afford to piss some of the viewers off by showing delayed games etc without much financial risk. Our clubs however need bums on seats financially at games in their home stadiums, in the fight against AFL and Union - and that will also create atmosphere making the TV spectacle better anyway!

The NRL has said in its press release on Thursday that any Week 2 games involving Sydney clubs will be at SFS, so I don't know where you are hearing ANZ from.

Considering the League is sponsored by Fosters and Telstra, unless a huge crowd is planned they are unlikely to go to the Lion Nathan and Vodafone sponsored ANZ Stadium.

This is why they're considering to play the game at ANZ:

That would have the NRL under pressure from Cronulla to ensure the match is played at ANZ Stadium and not the Sydney Football Stadium, the Roosters home ground.

Under NRL guidelines, all Sydney clubs must use either venue if they are hosting games after this weekend. The NRL has refused to rule out the possibility of a Roosters-Sharks clash being played at the SFS - even though Cronulla would nominally be the home team.

Stuart did not want the the issue to detract from his side's performance but indicated Cronulla chief executive Tony Zappia would lobby the NRL to have the match played at ANZ Stadium.

If so, it's going to turn 35K+ into 25K+. Is the NRL stupid enough to switch the game to ANZ? I say yes.

I have a better idea - what about the Sydney Cricket Ground?

It would be fitting in the NRL's Centenary season, it keeps the game in Moore Park area under the SCG/SFS Trust banner, and doesn't give the Roosters an advantage.

Are you serious?

The SCG is an aweful place to watch rugby league.

If they play this game anywhere other than the SFS then the NRL might as well stop operating.

20-25k plus at ANZ would be a terrible look.

Game should be played at Toyota, not at Easts home ground.
the system stinks if we have to play at their home ground when we finished higher than them and we won our semi and they lost.
This is all about big brother(easts) getting their own way.
If we can't play at Toyota, we'd be better off playing at Homebush.

Is anyone else starting to wonder what kind of crowd a club like the bunnies would get if they got a home semi? Compared to say, the roosters?

You're an idiot - it's pot luck. All about big brother getting it's own way? The rules are set by the NRL and having nothing to do with the Roosters. The Roosters will have absolutely NO jurisdiction over next weeks match whatsoever if played at the SFS. They won't be in their normal dressing room, their sponsors must share signage with Cronulla's etc. Simple as that. Toyota is too small for Week 2 finals footy.

Worst ground to watch RL in Sydney.
