No, I do care about it, except I suck so badly at essay writing.

Do you have to write about text types e.g. poems, short stories, pictures etc too?

Bad news for you- you aren't going to get either if you can't pass a literacy test with flying colours... even moreso for the reserve.

Hold your horses mate

I know how to spell and that

Except I can't write essays for sh*t as said above ^^

In english, we do approximately 5 assessment tasks. One is a presentation, one is a speech, and the rest are in-class essays.

The topics we've done so far are imaginative journeys/transformations.

I am sure everyone does close-study of texts that sometimes have different text types. Imaginative journeys used poems and film, transformations used film and novel.

How anyone can fail an essay is beyond me; there are so many options for preparation. You can write practise essays at home and hand them into your teacher for comments (prior to the actual assessment task). If that fails and you blatantly can't write an essay, ask a tutor/teacher for pointers.

They still run imaginative journeys in the curric?

You poor bastards

a sh*t theme/topic, yet one I found easy to understand.

If English wasn't mandatory I would have dropped it last year :crazy:

lol at this thread... yeah i didn't go to english much either, but loved it. Eng Ext 1, in particular the postmodernism elective really opened eyes etc. A good thing about the IJ... you can pretty much do anythign you want. E.g. as a chosen text type i used;

(and thanks to Madunit for helping with this during the time)

Didn't even notice that there. It's a carry over from the 3 minutes I considered being named Dilly. Yes, it was supposed to say formally. As in, changed my name to Dilly, but full name is still Dilmah.

You're the only one who picked up on it. lol
