lol.. i was too busy getting drunk and gaming to care too much about my HSC... the scores i can remember (this was in 2003):
General Maths (dropped from unit 3) - 93
Advanced English (didn't read a single text) - 70
Physics - 66? something like that...
Business Studies - 72
Software Design & Development - 75

not so piss poor considering i arrived at my SDD exam quite severely hungover. i got a UAI of 69... didn't go to uni due to low UAI/cbf factor... 4 years on and i'm an accomplished web developer working in sydney for considerable coin.

try to relax kiddies. imo enjoy your last year at school.. savour it... cherish it.. absorb every moment of it. you don't get to go back. if good results and uni are what you want - go for it... if not... enjoy it.

it's a really long book and even the translation is hardly in english, but philosophy is a great subject, in today's tutorial our lecturer posed three questions to us the first 2 leading into third which asked "Was Odysseuss a complete bastard?"

The Iliad is brilliant...

Philosophy? That's just for hippies.

Even though you're semi-joking, logic is pretty helpful. Not really sure about the rest of it, a lot of it sounds like a waste of time.

SDD is a piece of sh*t, or maybe it was just my teacher. The course started with 20 people in year 11 and is now down to 5, almost halfway through year 12. (I dropped it in year 11)

Yeah, probably the teacher

I also dropped IT... another sh*t subject, so down to 10 units now..

Excellent.

Are you doing some sort of Greek philosophy course Halla? You should do logic, logic rules.
I think my philosophy subject is actually called Theories of Human Nature, we spend like half the semester on Plato

I do do real subjects :fist"
apart from philosophy
I do education fundementals (it's manadatory for the BT/BA) Contexts for Learning and Development (ICT is the biggest waste of time)
I do English, I think the subject is called Introduction to Literary and Dramatic Forms
I do History, Australian History to 1890
and I do Economics, Microeconomics 1

By the way my university is the number one university for economics in the country, and it has a 100% employment rate for economics graduates

I do 5 subjects, my uni lets me.

Also philosophy is in like everything, it comes up in most tertiarry subjects and it is an awesome subject to study

Logic is great. But the subjects on philosophy that are just BS that go around talking about hyoptheticals...How is that remotely helpful?

Too many hippies do philosophy and its brethren, and it's a waste of time and universite lecturing space. :fist:

Ohhh the copy I purchased from the second hand book shop the other day must be missing a few pages.I am reading it for fun at the moment.:)

I word about text books. They are quite often the lecturers way to sell some of their own work (or that of their close buddies) They are usually purchased by first year students.;-)

Remember Apey... you f*ck this up, you've f*cked your entire life up.

As my maths teacher said to me once in year 9 because I couldn't be f*cked doing some useless form of algebra ...

" It's all downhill from here Dean "
-Mr Cartwright.

And you know what Apey... I didn't have a clue how to do that in the HSC, I don't even have a clue what my HSC score was, & I left after the first hour of every exam.

And now I'm a heroin addict.

The HSC is nothing but a memory test and complete waste of time.

I scored high 80's on mine and couldn't be arsed going to uni.
I have mates that went to uni and got qualifications and are now working full time, and they earn less than me, so whats the f**king point of going to uni?

Depends what your goals are dude.

If money is your only concern there are heaps of different avenues, not all of them require uni, some do.

If you want an education then uni is a great place to get it, then again, if you know the right people and are driven enough you can get a decent education without going to uni.

Lol nice try but I'm not one of the ones who are freaking out about it. If you set your goals low you have a lesser chance of being disappointed. On the flip side if you don't achieve them, the harsh realism hits that you're a f**king moron.

Everyone goes to work to earn money do they not?

But not everyone goes to uni to get a job, and not everyone seeks to maximise their earning potential by choosing the most efficient career path; some people want to fill specific roles that may or may not require a university qualification. Others want to learn something about the world before making the jump to full-time employment. The point being: university does serve a purpose.
