Good to see more clubs going traditional. The questions is, why did all these clubs dump all these classic jerseys and logo's in the first place!

There are many marketing departments and graphic designers that have a lot of explaining to do. The NRL has put forward some of the more abhorrent playing strips of any sport of all time.

Change for change's sake was the original reason I think.

Most of design changes came about during the SL Era - Now. It's good to see that clubs are recognising that sticking with traditional designs enhances the brand identity.

That's a bit over the top don't you think? There have been a couple of shockers (find me a comp in the world where that isn't the case) but on a world stage the designs have been consistently good imo.

There was still plenty of garbage dished up post superleague, but I'll agree that it was SL that started it.

obviously, they aren't my team, but i really hate what "WOW" has done to the Bronco's jersey. Their logo does not integrate well at all, unless they're playing in white

Change for change's sake was the original reason I think.

I thought it was rebranding to get people back involved after super league, and the cartoonie logos was to rope in kids. The thing is kids don't care about logos... its footy, they watch it to see heroic deeds. Best thing they could have done is stuck with tradition, which we are seeing now, is far more important. Clubs like the Rabbitohs and St George had the right idea all along.

When they play in their white strip, the edges of the WoW logo box turn red:

Even before Ribot League the Balmain/Sydney Tigers had scraped tradition and even had some purple in the jersey  SL jerseys were shockers but at least they has players names on the back and a limited amount sponsorship (probably because they couldn't get it). Some decent ones these days but with sponsors on the shorts, top back, bottom back, sleeves, front its a little hard to see the design.

Tigers purple was to do with sponsorship IIRC, MLC Mobile Phones?

Does anyone know what restrictions/requirements (if any) the NRL places on jersey advertising? I'm talking about the size, positioning of the logos etc.

I don't like the all red away strip for St George. looks bad, and the socks/shorts look a different red to the jersey sometimes!

The Steelers wore white shorts and socks with a red jersey, and St George wore hooped socks and white shorts.

Why can't our alternate strip be a simple red jersey, white shorts and hooped socks?

Leave the home as Red V, white shorts and white (steelers) socks.

That would be the most sensible, but lets see what crazy designs Reebok have got...

The knight (St George) on the Dragons logo is facing the wrong way. they originally intended it to face right (tail left of logo, head right), but I can't find any info on why they a) changed it and b) kept him facing the wrong way.
