Off season thread alert!!

Since the storm salary cap scandal we have had 7 different premiers, who would you back to win a 7 team tournament and why?

Assume all players are the age they were when the comp was won and all players who appear in more than one side i.e. Maloney have been perfectly cloned.

For me it is a 3 horse race between the Dragons, Roosters and Storm. Dragons and roosters because they are the only two who managed to be the best in both the regular season and the finals. The storm, because they have 2012 versions of Smith, Cronk and Slater.

The roosters get my completely bias vote. Their defence would hold up against any of them and their attack would have a bit too much for the Dragons.

Discuss away.

Have to go Roosters 13. Defence was as good as any, also had great strike right across the park. Also taking into account their 3 minor prems. on the trot (I think?).

It's really the Storm.
I don't really understand the Dragons....they were good but compared to Souths, Roosters and Storm?

It would be interesting to see how the 2010 Dragons defence stacked up against the brilliance of the 2015 Cowboys attack.

Manly were good that year
souths were bloody good too.

Roosters, I am biased but it seems clear to me.

We royally f**ked the following two seasons so we shouldn't even be having this discussion.

2013 Roosters are a class above all the other options. 6 times Easts held a team scoreless. And then throw in RTS, Jenko, Maloney, Pearce and SBW on attack with JWH and Moa making huge metres. 2013 Roosters really were the irresistible force.

My team for sure.
As for the reasoning. In 2013 roosters, rabbitohs and eagles were great sides, roosters. Roosters only just beat manly in both finals encounters, manly came back to beat rabbitohs but it was fairly close. So in 13 rabbitohs were 8.5/10, manly 8.5/10, roosters 9/10. Into 2014 all 3 teams improved. But come finals time Souths completely annihilated both manly and the roosters. So in 2014 manly were 8.7/10 roosters were 9.5/10 and in the finals that year rabbitohs were 10/10.
If i ranked the teams I'd go

1. Souths
2. Roosters
3. Sharks
4. Cowboys
5. Storm
6. Eagles
7. Dragons
But if a tournament was played by these teams any team could win it

can't just look at two years though. extend it to 2015. Manly gets 2/10, Souffs get 5/10 and Easts get 8/10, so Easts would win overall

We aren't talking about which team was the best over a period of time. We are talking about which team is best. The 2013 roosters team was great, but in my opinion they got better in 2014. They lost mortimer and O'Donnell, but guys like Napa, rts and tupou were no longer rookies, friend, boyd, pearce and guerra were all in better form. The question asked is would 2014 rabbitohs beat 2013 roosters in a head to head match, and considering the 2014 rabbitohs team pretty much beat 2013 roosters mk2 shows they have a strong case in this thread.

But to answer the question id say this years Sharks team,15 wins in a row is simply delicious.

Any team that carries Chad Townsend is the best.

I disagree the chooks were better in 2014. They, on paper, were the best team but they had a severe case of "we won last year so don't care this year syndrome" and literally fell in to the minor premiership position based on a combination of natural ability and all their rivals choking. Look at the 24 point comeback of the last placed sharks and the almost 30 point comeback by the cows in a semi as a prime example. The properly motivated 2013 chooks wouldn't allow that in a fit.
