I tuned in with 60 seconds to go, and that 60 secs made a Cronulla v Nth Qld RD 26 who cares fixture look like the 89 Grand Final. If extra time was more of that, a replay is the better option.

Epic fail from the afl, what professional sporting organisation goes for a replay in their biggest game of the year over at least some extra time first?

The AFL replay will aim to take away from the NRL GF build up. Not impressed. Though it should be largely in the background up here in Sydney.

Farcical , comical what else can you say .

The game was close so was enjoyable to watch , but christ it would be so much better if the players were at least half skilled in ball handling . Just pick the ball up and kick it FFS , dont they practice this stuff ? So frustrating watching them fumble about all day .

They have draws throughout the season but extra time in finals, apart from the GF. Growing up in Melb, I think it's the right decision. Only the 3rd time in 115 years. Draws are much less frequent in AFL then NRL, Rugby or Soccer, due to the higher-scoring nature of the game. Therefore, considering one probably won't happen for another 30-40 years, it's probably the right decision. The players gave their all over a full 120 minutes - if neither side is ahead, neither team deserves to win. It's as simple as that!

How stupid did the AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou look after the game...he looked like a right idiot with a 100k crowd out to lynch him for not giving thought to letting a team win today...pathetic.

It's a kind of empty feeling. I hate GP, but extra time is a fair and legitimate way of getting a result and it would work in AFL.

My only hope now is, that the AFL give preference to club members first when tickets go on sale.

Good suggestion but I think they will give preference to the people that paid for tickets for this game.

Doesn't look like it.

More Magpies and Saints members will be able to attend the game - to be played at 2.30pm on October 2 - with 16,000 tickets on top of the normal 25,000 to be made available.

Competing club members can purchase tickets from 9am on Monday while AFL members will get their opportunity from 9am on Tuesday.

The general public will have access to any remaining tickets at 9am on Wednesday.

lol what a joke.

A draw and they don't have Extra Time???

LOL!

I'm not much into AFL, follow St. Kilda when I do get into it but seriously, no extra time? What a joke the AFL is.

and yet there are words of wisdom

the afl will make atleast another 10mill out of it..... good reason to have a replay

not a bad move from the administration

another 100,000 tickets will be sold, another few million in TV rights and advertising revenue

they are still streets ahead of NRLs administration imo

you can't buy publicity like that

Way to gouge the fans....fmd

no one is forcing them to go

would you mind if the NRL season was extended by a week and gave us 2 GFs

personally I think the fans benefit from this, i would if my team were playing again next week

Wow. Just when you think the self-proclaimed "greatest game of all time" couldn't get any worse, they're still stuck in the 70s and have to replay grand finals that are deadlocked. Awww what a shame, ticket Queue's all over again for the tens of thousands of fans. What a waste of money for those poor AFL freaks

The fans are getting a better deal, but I'd much prefer to have had it settled yesterday.

To make matters worse !!!...Virgin Blue Booking system has crashed at Melb Airport and they are having to manually check in all passengers as we speak !!.

Apparently there are fans all over the airport trying to get home !!!....LOL.
