I am interested to hear MITS's thoughts on this.......

To MITS credit and also Gronk, they have always stated that they want the club to move forward and supportered a change

Casper? Bartman? Parra Pete Anyone?

I have stated from day one, I support the board because I'm fully aware of what they are trying achieve and they want to win a comp more then any of us.

No sackings are made to look pretty but that's the way it is.

Awaiting people to whinge like saying 'the report is too long' or 'it's too in depth' or 'it's one sided'.

Batter up people...

looks like we are in for a great 6 months if this is an example of the political propaganda we are in for. I hope this doesn't turn into Pittsburgh2.

A further read with clearer head is required...............give me a break it's friday night:alcho:

Bloody hell, reading that whole report, it completely justifies and clears up a lot of things.

The fact they have completely turned our financial standing around is a momentous achievement, and I for one applaud them not only for this, but also for the improvements and expansion they are planning, and also for clearing up a lot of the previously raised issues.

wow selling off assets is a great way to turn around our financial standing,

read the annual report boxhead.

how do you turn around 11 million when gaming only grew by a few million? keep in mind that gaming accounts for 95% of the revenue of the leagues club?

sums dont add up.

2008 was an asset impairment, hence the massive loss
2009 was a sale of assets (two blues sale)
2010 not over yet,

i am a big parra fan and i hope that the club can turn it around, the problem is i have little faith in the ability of the people being employed by the club.

Could not Agree with you more !!!

Could not agree more.
MITS and Gronk have (nearly ;-)) always been objective. I'm happy to add some others there as well - like Born an Eel, 81236. Geez, even HJ can be objective at times.

But there are some serious losers out there. One of them is loving for life. Another, has needed pills in the past. The rest just can't think straight.

Hard to take some comments seriously tbh.
I'll comment on this report when I've had time to digest it.
On first read, I fear 12 pages of propaganda that I am not interested in. I'll take it on board regardless.

Who the f%&^ is Bob Bentley and why is this the first time he has been mentioned????

Who is the CEO of what??????

The report said Bob Bentley was named Chief Executive Officer of the Leagues Club. I suppose Osborne is CEO of the Football Club. All this hierarchy confuses me, but that is how I understood it.

It was an interesting read, but nothing really all that new...Some facts and figures were probably new, but overall, I didn't feel that it was anything ground-breaking, personally.

But I appreciate it nonetheless.

Project Pittsburg hey........ Absolute rort by the old board.
I'm totally disgusted that the old board could be this low.

And the John Kolc contracts are very worrying.
What a rort by Fitzy and co.

Any outsider who reads the "2010 Board Report" I expect would raise their eyebrows at a few items as it does present more like a strategically worded election piece rather than a genuine report to the members. I say that because it appears to leave many questions unanswered or perhaps some topics omitting important information.

A few things:-

  • It states that the Board asked Fitzy to "attend a meeting with the Board" and that Fitzy commenced court proceedings to "restrain the board from dealing with him". Thereafter it states that the Board has given the court undertakings "not to continue with the process". It seems odd that they can't be up front about the fact that this is all about revoking his life membership. Clearly they felt that supplying all the facts would not be politically advantageous.
  • I am unaware if using the clubs funds for election matters is illegal and what Project Pittsburgh (PP) entailed. It seems odd however that they have spent $250k on legals and PI's on a witch hunt when the PP allegedly cost the club only $100K.
  • It does smack of a employee witch hunt. There is one thing to bring in new practices for the better in the workplace, but to go about digging to find dirt on people so you can punt them seems on the surface to be dirty pool. Again we have only been given a rough outline on some of the terminations but one wonders if these staff were given fair opportunity to work under the new regime's expectations and standards.
  • It's interesting to see the club's position with Ando at the moment; "the decision was taken to negotiate a buy-out of the balance of Daniel's contract and that is what is occurring." So they are not paying him the remainder of his contract but actually trying to pay him less.
  • It's financial shenanigans to suggest that there has been a $9m turn around in profits. We all know that the $8m loss in 2008 was a paper loss only brought about by asset revaluations. This is what companies do to reduce their tax burden. Putting that aside their figures after the Global Financial Crisis have improved the bottom line from $1.5M to a projected $2.1M. It's not ground breaking but hey they are running leaner with wages and other contracts so I can't say it's not an improvement. Having said that I am not privy to the numbers from clubs of a similar size and it would be nice to be able to compare apples with apples. I suspect that their numbers would have improved comparatively.
  • LOL at them using Fitzy's infamous "5 year" comment. That will haunt him until the day he dies. I don't often defend the pelican but I must point out that the 5 year comment was used by him with his Registered Clubs lobbyist hat on when the State Government increased the way that they calculate pokie tax. He referred to how the increase in tax would make it hard to put a team on the paddock. Spag is now using that out of context and suggesting that he predicted the demise of the licensed club. FYI Fitzy's comments are here and here.
  • Finally, I though that club and football operations were separate ? Reading that report it does not seem that the football club have much say about what happens around the place.

my uneducated comments:
- do we have any employees left?
- i am glad Fitzy and his little regime are gone - alot of that confirms that we really did need a shakeup .... altho in saying that, I have no idea what goes on in clubs in general and can imagine its not too different in lots of places
- firstly let me say I am ok with Ando being replaced - however, its all well and good to parade an independant review panel, but I think the issue most people have is whether that review meant diddly to the final decision anyway - hard to tell when you have no knowledge of the review outcome .... altho if Ando was in search of an extension then he pretty much put the first nail in his own coffin
- as gronk said, its convenient they left out the fact they took fitzy's membership away
- if i hear any more crapping on about the tingha palace thing I'll f'n explode - get the f**k over it
- its good the operations are being shaken up - probably long overdue
- its interesting to read this kind of thing, but it kinda perpetuates the laughing stock our club has become .... an outsider would read that and just laugh at the state the club is in

Sure is an interesting report.

Project Pittsburgh sounds a bit dodgy. I reckon the staff involved we probably damned if they did and damned if they didn't.

Good to hear the clubs finances have improved. Although you have to look through the sale of assets, but revenues are up which is great.

Glad they did the report, although I guess we knew they wouldn't put anything in there about the current shortcomings.

I know my name has been raised a few times here, and yes I have read the report, but for f**k SAKE !!!!. IT IS RACE WEEKEND! :)

THIS IS THE BIGGEST weekend of the year, and the first time I have got to spend it at home since the Bali thing.

I have 3 computers set up with twitter from the track and live timing, the Big screen is all serviced.

I am going to have to pass on any comment at the moment.
