Interesting old codger walking out of the stadium... as the Bulldog Army always do, they continued to sing all the way out. There was a guy in front of me yelling "bunch of lebbos" etc etc... I called him racist and he said "I'm not racist"

Great crowd today. Only the bottom deck of the Noble Stand (Members area) and upper decks of Brewongle, Churchill and Trumper stands had some empty patches, and even then Brewongle and Trumper had decent numbers. Pretty even splits of Supporters as well, probably slightly in Saints favour but by no means a landslide.

Has there been any years in the post match of the day era of Sydney rugby league with more 30K crowds than this one?

East v Parramatta got 30633 at the SCG for a rd 21 clash back in 1981.

Who said the Roosters cannot pull a crowd. Yet again this year the Roos average home attendance will be well up to NSW club average.

Even though yesterday was a Roosters home game, the crowd yesterday suggests the Dragons need to seriously consider the bigger venues for their bigger drawing games. It was a sea of red and white at the SCG yesterday.

I think the top 3 Sydney crowds this year have all involved the Dragons.

Of course they should, they are the only team of the Big 5 Sydney teams who only play in Suburbia.

I disagree. There are only 2-3 big drawers that St George may get as a home ground
ANZAC Day - which we move every second year
Heritage Round - which is all about suburban grounds.

Great move by the Roosters marketing the pants off this game as a one off at the SCG, but it was an "event" game.
All the bandwagon support and mums and dads fans that only go to 1-2 games a year rock up at those games.

St George can't sell out Jubilee oval for some games. Its just the 1-2 big ones that they need to be a smidge more flexible with. Maybe 5 each at Jubilee and WIN Stadium, and maybe move 2 games if they look like getting a big crowd.

I know the O'Reilly stand gives a decent view of a RL match, but f**k staring into the sun all afternoon.

I couldn't work out why the shady Brewongle/Churchill was so empty. Must have been expensive to sit there.

It doesn't mean they can't promote the f**k out of their bigger games and play them at the bigger venues.

The Dragons should play 1 game at the SCG each year and maybe 2 at the SFS. The rest split between their other grounds.

Had yesterday's game been played at Kogarah, I reckon it still would have been around 1000 below capacity. Same thing happens at Parra Stadium for alleged "sell-out" games.

I want the SCG back with a Sunday Afternoon Grand Final... A infinitely better atmosphere and would be a good representation of the game's history.

You're crazy. The SCG is the worst Rugby League viewing ground in Sydney. Bla bla bla tradition.

No and as a far as I can tell the number of regular season 30k+ crowds in Sydney is more than we've ever had. We've had 7 this year:

37994 Sydney Roosters v St George Illawarra
37773 Canterbury v St George Illawarra
36212 St George Illawarra v Sydney Roosters
34662 Canterbury v Parramatta
31991 Parramatta v Canterbury
30685 Wests Tigers v Souths
30120 Souths v Canterbury

While 1967 and 1968 had 6 each.

And there might still be one more to come with Souths v Parra on Friday night in Round 25.

Obvious evidence there that Saints and Canterbury, closely followed by Parramatta, are the best supported teams in Sydney.

people refuse to go to anz because it's got supposedly poor viewing, but then they'll flock to the scg which must be close to the worst ground for viewing the game in sydney.

damn will sydneysiders buy anything that gets marketed to them.

Roosters now have a crowd average of 16613 which puts them in 6th place I think. Behind Brisbane Dogs Tigers Parra Saints.

Should stay vaguely around there, 2 games remaining, hopefully we draw 20k+ against Manly to make up for the likely 10k against the Titans.

ANZ has had had many big crowds this year. People don't mind it for a big game.
