Souths supposedly have the most members by far in the NRL yet look at some of there pathetic crowds this season,im starting to debate whether the 18000 + membership numbers is bullsh*t

Only about 11-12k of that number is 'Ticketed'. The rest are just people who are Souths but can't attend games. So they fork out about $60 or so for a poster, keyring etc. and they can say they contributed to Souths staying alive in the NRL.

15,459 the official figure - I knew Manly supporters didn't travel.

Total R8: 155,090
Average: 19,386

Fantastic average nonetheless.

Pity that Broncos and Titans did so poorly (compared to their averages), could have been a 20k round.

Hopefully the Roosters win today could help next Monday's crowd get over 10k.

Manly v St George should go very close to selling out. Knights on Mothers day should get a decent crowd, 16k perhaps. Storm in their first game at AAMI Park should get 25k+ too.

Only place there seemed to be any room was in the upper section of the western grandstand, everywhere else was absolutely packed.

Its great to see the Tigers fans turning out to support their club.

What a pity we couldn't top the 20,000 average mark, but overall, good crowd support for this round.

I doubt Manly v STG will sell-out.

1345 players will be backing up from either Test duty or the most useless game on the Australian sporting calandar (City v Country).

It could be of NSW Cup standard.

Just before people blow up about the Souths v Manly crowd, I think its worthwhile to look at the history of crowds between these two teams, just to see how few 'big' crowds have turned up for this fixture when it has been a South's home game.

Sunday’s crowd was South’s 3rd largest against an Eagles team since 1990, and second largest against a Manly team.

2010 – ANZ Stadium 15459
2009 – ANZ Stadium 14225
2008 – ANZ Stadium 11114
2007 – Telstra Stadium 12087
2006 – Telstra Stadium 7509
2005 – Aussie Stadium 8900
2004 – North Sydney Oval: 14855
2002 – Aussie Stadium: 15803 (Vs Northern Eagles)
1999 – SFS 8755
1997 – SFS 6020
1996 – SFS 4317
1995 – SFS 13218
1994 – SFS 15801
1993 – SFS 8059
1992 – SFS 14808
1991 – SFS 13740
1990 – SFS 10260

In the scheme of things, Sunday's crowd was the Rabbitohs 3rd largest against an Eagles team, and second largest against a pure Manly team....

As of today Souths have 18,297 members of which 11,459 are ticketed members.

I realise that the 18297 figure were not all ticketed members but still with 11459 ticketed members shouldn't they be getting better crowds then 15000?

Some of these other clubs don't even have half the ticketed members that Souths do yet there producing some better crowds then Souths from time to time.

Souths got 10,943 to the game at ANZ staduim this year against the Titans, how can you get that low if you nearly have 11,500 ticketed members?

9500 -10000 odd ticketed members should be turning up every week alone

There would have been about 3000-4000 Manly fans there yesterday which means there were only about 11000 odd Souths fans there

Somebody needs to investigate those Souths membership numbers
