Geez if CC and Perth appear in 2013 Heritage round will go ass-up:

Bears v Sea Eagles
Bulldogs v Dragons
Eels v Storm
Raiders v Panthers
Reds v Cowboys
Warriors v Broncos
Tigers v Rabbitohs
Roosters v Knights
Sharks v Titans (leftovers lol)

What a crazy draw!

Interesting things for Souths:

- Our first 9 games include 4 against the Bulldogs (R2 and R7) and Tigers (R5 and R10).
- We play every Sydney team twice except Penrith.
- We only play 4 away games outside of Sydney all year - 1 in the first 22 weeks, 3 in the last 4 weeks.
- Our last home game is in R24.

Also, Roosters again in R1. It's such a waste for both teams - that match will draw a good crowd regardless of when it is played. They should play it in June when crowds are low and have both Souths and Roosters play interstate teams as both teams would draw a good first round crowd against anyone.

I honestly don't think Souths v Roosters would get a big crowd in June.

Rivalry Round I have similar questions to Heritage Round, although it appears there's only one real contentious one... Dogs v Warriors? Where's the rivalry there? :?

You don't think the rivalry between Canberra and Melbourne is somewhat questionable?

To be honest I can't see how one team beating the other team 13 out of their last 14 games makes for much of a rivalry, but that's just me.

Roosters are probably good chances to get a few FTA games in a row to start the year off. Just like this year.

Once again the Raiders get royally screwed with the byes.

The only team to have their byes spread over just 4 weeks (bye, game, game, bye) and also the only team not to have a single pre-Origin bye.

Thanks NRL. f**k knuckles.

Hey Skeepe I hate to rain on your “NRL hates Canberra parade” but the roosters also have no pre-origin bye. Their byes are in rounds 9 (City/country) and 15 (post-origin).

Yep, looks the goods.

WT site says the club will confirm venues later in the year but R5 v Souths @ SCG is already a lock.

Roosters membership info says 11 SFS + 1 AMI Stadium Christchurch (they're not going back to Gosford this season).

I can only assume the 1 Christchurch game will be R13 v Warriors...

This seems a bit odd to me, I understand the logic this year given we played the warriors once, but to play the warriors twice in NZ is a strange call. What makes it even more strange is that it falls in a period (rounds 8-16) where we have 2 byes, 5 away games and only 2 home games. In effect that will change to one home game in 9 weeks if we move the warriors game.

I think the Bulldogs/Wests Tigers might be on a Friday night, they'll get a big crowd. Either way it will be on Ch 9, Fri night or Sunday alvo.

Well 2 games on fta this year for my sharks
how the f**k do we attract more sponsors with that
it should be worked out that each team regArdless of how they are travelling gets
a certan amount of games shown
who the f**k wants to watch the stains, broncs, rooster and titans every week
I sure as hell don't

We have quite possible the worst draw. The top 4 teams from this year twice, Melbourne twice as well. If we make the top 8/4 we will earn it.

A donkeys fan talking about how many times another team gets a FTA game... that'll do me!

Wasn't complaining or anything.

Just remembering that people were complaining about the Roosters getting lots of early coverage this year, seems that will be the case again (as it should be because their first 4 are against other Sydney teams). Only this time they aren't wooden spooners.

WTF? Why change heritage round? Us playing Manly is a no brainer. Grand Finals, them taking our players for decades, entering the same year. Utterly stupid.

Change rivalry round of course. We have plenty of rivals in Canterbury, St George, Penrith and now Melbourne I guess. But if any one is to play Manly in heritage round, its us. And when the Bears come in, Manly vs Bears in rivalry round.
Would've thought it could go the other way round, Parra Manly rivalry really started in late 70's, whereas the Bears and Manly have hated each other since 1947. Bears Manly heritage, Parra Manly rivalry.

If we come back in of course:)

Does anyone else think the NRL saying it hopes for 200,000 fans in round 1 is a little over-optimistic? If we look at the corresponding games last season

Broncos/Cowboys: 48k
Bulldogs/Tigers: 11k (raining)
Panthers/Knights:11k
Raiders/Sharks: 9k
Roosters/Rabbitohs: 23k ANZ Rd1 (18k at SFS Rd18)
Storm/Eagles: 14k
Titans/Dragons: 21k (monday night)
Warriors/Eels: 10k

Total: 147k.

If we can get:

50k @ Suncorp
30k @ ANZ
15k @ CUA
15k @ Canberra
30k @ SFS
20k @ AAMI
25k @ Skilled
15k @ Mt Smart

then we get 200k. But even the above crowds are very optimistic, I could easily see 10k penrith, 11k canberra, 13k melbourne, 13k warriors, 26k roosters, 23k titans, 45k suncorp and 28k ANZ...and there you go, way under!!

If the CC Bears do come in, I'd say the NRL will be having them playing Newcastle in Rivalry Round.
