The other real positive from increased member numbers is increased attendances.

It's no co-incidence that record members signing up has also come at the same time we crack more than 200,000 in attendance at games in round 1.

No better indication of that than the bulldogs fans last night, the category 1 member seating appeared to be sold out on the western side. Members were nearly 50% of the crowd i would say

The Bulldogs membership email that was distributed today suggested exactly that, their figures stated that more than half the crowd were members.

A smart move honestly by the Bulldogs to try and do that. They could have reached 13K last Thursday as far as I'm concerned, but the fact they possibly convinced a few more people to sign up for a membership who were still only 50:50 about it, by having the challenge on the night is good for the game and good for the club.

It's amazing how far membership numbers have come in just 3-4 years. Here's hoping it continues to go from strength to strength!

i agree

if memory serves me correctly, dogs struggled for 4k in 2008.

Yet just 3 yrs later and with seaso oly just starting they are over triple that!!!

good work

FFS Timmah. Get off the internet and get some life skills. He was clearly joking.
Well aware of that.

The fact it pisses you off show you probably need to heed your own advice.

Great effort from our club, while we may not be leaders in the membership race we are quickly catching up to the likes of Souths, St. George Illawarra and Brisbane. Our membership drives, campaigns and plans have been top notch.

:?

They reached it at fulltime actually, Steve Allan was plugging it with updated tallies right through toward the end of the game. We were ten members short with 15 minutes left, and hit 13,000 close to fulltime.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs enjoyed an historic opening night on Monday – and our 13,000-strong Membership Family was right there in the thick of the ANZ Stadium action!

As well as bursting through the Project 13k target shortly before kick-off, :D:?

Really don't give a sh*t what the article says, I'm telling you I was at the ground and the announcer was counting down how many members left through the game, announcing after the final try that we finally crossed the 13k mark.

The article can say what it wants, I know what I heard, and I know there were 26,000 other people there who likely heard the same.

It would make sense to wait to the very end to state they reached there target, otherwise it would sound like they reached there goal early on which may hinder sales. Either way top effort by the doggie fans and the club!

Mate, i was at the same game and heard the announcer do what you said he did.

But don't you think there is some possibility of him lieing to get the crowd cheering more then they already were? (it was a loud crowd)

You are being very ignorant and narrowed minded about this, you are often like that.

Yep, this is exactly what happened from a marketing sense.

I'm simply talking about what I heard at the ground. I have no doubt it was a marketing ploy.
