Wow, fantastic numbers all round. Looks like we are on track to smash last years numbers. This is with 2 of the big battles still to come.

Looks like the only 2 clubs who could fall short of last years numbers are the cowboys and storm. Both wouldn't be by much and there are pretty good reasons for it.

By the looks of the start form the storm it will be pretty close.

Roosters 7214.

A statement from their website. A deserved dig at Manly & Cronulla...

Sydney Roosters post record Membership figures
8/02/2011 4:59:28 PM
The Sydney Roosters would like to thank all the new members of the club who signed up throughout the Battle of the Beaches.

The promotion contributed to the highest ever sign-up level during a one week period in Club history.

Whilst we did not win the Battle of the Beaches promotion, we are very proud of our achievements and the loyalty demonstrated by our fans.

We signed up just under 2,000 Members in the one week period and unlike other Clubs, we made a conscious decision not to disadvantage loyal Members who signed up pre-Christmas by discounting or giving away membership packages.

The cowboys are the only ones who are behind last year's total at this point

Storm's memberships up 98% from this time last year.

What are the Panthers doing wrong out there?

It is suppose to be the heart of Rugby League and they have the least memberships so far. I hope that changes. They have the potential to at least reach 8,000 this year. 10,000 by 2012.

Yep. Most other clubs are boosting their memberships with non-ticketed members. The Panthers are ahead of a few clubs for proper ticketed memberships. We're well behind the top clubs still, but not the worst.
Well that's Penrith's problem for being stupid enough not to have a non ticketed membership. It's a source of revenue their ignoring.

Bunnies hand out a lot of free memberships I believe. I know they have the program through souths cares where u can purchase a membership for a underprivileged person in the community.

In that case the actual member may not be paying for it but someone is. Money actually has to be spent on the membership.

Manly's thing is different, it was plainly obvious they were trying to win the battle artificially. It pains me to compliment them but I hope my club, the Dogs and Dragons take the Roosters route.

Winning the battle should come by who gets the most paid up members, not who manages to hand out the most free ones.

You are absolutely right BunniesMan.

The Sydney Roosters again leading the way in integrity.

Well said BunniesMan.

I have done some figures to show how many memberships clubs recorded from 4th Feb 2010 til the end of the 2010 season.
This may give you an indication of where your club is at now and how many more members they may get. (Totally unscientific, but it's an idea)

First column = 2010 total memberships
Second column = number sold at this time 2010
Total = number sold between Feb 4th til end of year

Brisbane Broncos 14,179 - 11120 = 3,059
Canberra Raiders 6,134 - 2,990 = 3,144
Canterbury Bulldog 11,886 - 7,071 = 4,815
Cronulla Sharks 4,873 - 2,454 = 2,419
Gold Coast Titans 5,441 - 4,179 = 1,262
Manly Sea Eagles 5,112 - 2,279 = 2,833
Melbourne Storm 10,360 - 1,416 = 8,944
Newcastle Knights 8,485 - 5,012 = 3,473
North Qld Cowboys 9,180 - 7,460 = 1,720
Parramatta Eels 11,133 - 5,950 = 5,183
Penrith Panthers 4,541 - 2,414 = 2,127
South Sydney 18,716 - 8,871 = 9,845
St.George Illawarra 15,345 - 8,801 = 6,544
Sydney Roosters 6,116 - 2,447 = 3,669
NZ Warriors 4,834 - 4,069 = 765
Wests Tigers 6,526 - 3,526 = 3,000

So if we are to combine Von's numbers by adding the difference sold between now and the start of the season 2010 and this years total sold already we can hope for something like the following
Brisbane Broncos 14,140
Canberra Raiders 8,746
Canterbury Bulldog 13,869
Cronulla Sharks 6,632
Gold Coast Titans 7,785
Manly Sea Eagles 8,628
Melbourne Storm 11,750
Newcastle Knights 11,791
North Qld Cowboys 8,368
Parramatta Eels 14,148
Penrith Panthers 6,172
South Sydney 26,771
St.George Illawarra 20,548
Sydney Roosters 10,222
NZ Warriors 5,375
Wests Tigers 8,945

Obviously not scientific at all but intersting...

If we can get close to 14k that would be awesome, we had a goal of getting 10k by 2010 and a few years ago alot of people thought we would get no where near it but to think we have smashed through and should push 15k soon and in a couple of years 20k is great work.

I'm f**king embarrassed by my teams numbers but on the other hand I do understand the big drop. The club isn't helping itself though, there's very little advertising from what I have seen in any of the media up here, I saw my first newspaper ad for membership last week. In all honesty I think it's a bit of a protest by the fans up here to how the club is going at the moment, hopefully the club turns it around as god knows what would happen next year if we have another abysmal year.

It is a likely scenario by March 2012, all teams will be over 10K.

Surely our great spectator sport deserves that.
