He really left them with egg on their face in this regard.

He did indeed, which ironically is why it's good that he's gone.

It's like the guy just exists to f**k the club around. Who cares if EGS hasn't been a voting member for the requisite amount of time? He's a club legend, one of the greatest wingers of all time and played in all four of our premiership wins.

Is Fitzgerald concerned Grothe hasn't been a member long enough to have the club's best interests at heart? What a tool.

Denis 'Technicality' Fitzgerald took us from glory to mediocrity and now he's spending his retirement trying to further destabilise the club.

Don't agree. Rules are rules, and if he doesn't qualify then he can't serve, no matter who he is. If he's only got 6 months to go then I'm sure he can wait.

No argument there, yes he's a tool

Pretty much. Can't say I'm all that surprised. Just wait till his mate Raaaaaaay gets on the case and starts branding the board as corrupt. Well he's probably already done that...

Clause 27 (b) of the Club’s Constitution states that:
“Any person who is elected to membership of the Club as a Club member on or after 22 December 2004 is not entitled to attend and to vote on any matters at General Meetings or to vote at the election of the Board, and is not entitled to be nominated for, elected to and hold office on the Board until that person has been a financial member of the Club for a continuous period of three (3) years at the date of the General Meeting or the date of voting for the election of the Board or the date of nomination to the Board.”

Is there any special dispensation for former players who are nice guys ? ;-)

I think they are lucky that it's the off season and most of the media who usually give a f**k don't at the moment.

A little bit of due diligence would have discovered this and the seat could have sat vacant until the season was under way. Not really a huge problem, by pretty dumb all the same.

The reason i didn't attend this years AGM, is basically because it has become a whinge fest, DF turns up to discredit anyone who he thinks has taken his rightful position. The same popel get up to the microphone each year to complain , no wonder the other supporters think we self destruct and eat ourselves up

FMD when does the footy start, this is an awfully long off season

And that's why I didn't bother either.

Rather spend the night at home with my family then listen to the same blokes carry on about the dumbest issues.

Nice to hear that Terry Rose is really on the ball regarding Junior League. (Sarcastic)

The part that made me LOL about the issue, and I have been hearing about that point from the person who raised it (his first time speaking at an AGM), the text in question is part of the Chairmans report, that is part of the Annual and Financial reports, signed by the Chairman (you can find it in the link at the top of this thread).

So we signed off on those KPI's we just don't know how we measure those KPI's.

Should have been a reasonably straight forward question really.

Jodeci, 4 clubs applied to leave the Parra Junior League ( ouch) mainly due tio the Exec Officer, he has favourites with 3 or 4 of the smaller teams and seems to get them to support his view

The bigger clubs have issues, but the senior club dont have control of the junior league other than funding, it wont get any better until there are changes. My club will continue on, but very guarded in its view of the current regime. I have been in and out of the JRL due to my somn playing and coaching, the atmosphere is "difficult" to say the least

The complete Parra Junior League comp is a joke and until a move at the top (Terry Rose) is tapped on the shoulder, the clubs with the cash will always be treated better then the clubs struggling to sell its meat trays.

Did Terry even present some kind of info like the amount of kids that play? Some financial aspects of the competition, club championship, anything???

There was a meeting of the junior league a couple of weeks ago, where the JRL committee really showed its true colours when questions were asked.

Thank goodness for the clubs that want to see kids playing footy, I always think how much better it would be with a different person at the top with good communication skills, not confrontational skills

I wonder if Glenn Duncan was a 3 year member?

Suity
The constitution is not something that can be waived to suit and the directors need to sign off in the anual report that it has been followed. There is a legal requirement, and any changes need to be voted on by the members and if I recall correctly, they require a 75% approval to be acted on.
