Someone didn't watch Dark Knight Rises

Nah, the Melbourne jerseys turned me off the idea.

Newie are doing the right thing. They shouldn't have to wear a shit jersey because of some ridiculous rule made up purely to sell more merchandise.

No, the fact that they can chop and change sets a precendent to clubs to make shit stuff because they can get away with not wearing it. Think long term.

You're drawing a very, very long bow.
The Knights have made a good choice by wearing a jersey the fans love. Forcing them to wear the bra-monstrosity to satisfy your inner jersey-nerd won't solve anything, no offence.

Then why do the brocs keep wearing that baby shit yellow crap kit?

Millers...

Feel sorry for anyone who bought the main jersey for Newcastle...

It's a shit jersey, but it was assigned they nominated it as their home jersey. What is the point of having a rule if the NRL won't enforce it... We will end up having new jerseys every year

We're all jersey nerds for having posted here so no offence.

What I am arguing is that the Knights should not be an exception to the rule, of which there are currently many exceptions. The NRL currently looks like trash because the flexibility (or lack of enforcement) of the rules allows it to. Its been explained over and over in this thread but lets say the Knights stick with the stripes for another 3 years and then switch to blue with red polka dots for one year and then wear a Henny Penny "heritage jersey" every round for the next two years. Kind of screws over the fans that bought a piece of shit for the sole reason that players would be wearing it onfield for three years.

We all want the league to raise its standard of branding but people like yourself can't see the forest for the trees. i.e. you don't understand that a small sacrifice will have greater long term gain.

I'm gonna suggest that the six times past the 8 allowed that they've worn it, the NRL has fined them and Tinkler's parted with his money because he doesn't want to see the bra monstrosity worn.

Timmah, also your table says sharks have worn their alternate once, when they've worn it twice.

First time against the Dogs, and then again in Wollongong against the Dragons.

As above, Cronulla's table should read 10 main, 2 alternate, 8 heritage.

On that, good to see Cronulla hit the reported heritage jersey limit and actually chose to abide by the rules.

I agree with GAZF, but would like to take that one step further. Home + away/clash jerseys for every team, plus one extra jersey for one game only during the regular season + finals. It would be up to the club to choose if their extra jersey is for WIL, Heritage, CTG, etc.

I will say though that I have no problem if a club decided to add to a home jersey a small logo for that round, say a pink ribbon above the team shield for WIL, or like the Dragons with the RSL logo this year. That way we aren't getting this joke of a system that is currently in place, and leaves room for teams to show support for other NRL initiatives without having to add another jersey to the repertoire.

Pre-season, do whatever the hell you want.

I think its disgraceful Newcastle has been allowed to wear their 'Main' jersey only once.
Why? It's a shit jersey.

Yeah, all two people who have bought the "main" jersey. The general consensus around the club/fans is that it's shit and the heritage one is better, so it makes sense to wear the heritage one far more than the main one.

As above, Cronulla's table should read 10 main, 2 alternate, 8 heritage.

Yeah, but we've got Tinks so we can do what we want and our heritage jersey is awesome.

Short term pain for long term gain (for all fans). Try to view the issue without your emotional attachment to the Knights.

Maybe docking a competition point is the way to go if the sugar daddies think they can pay their way out of a problem.

Truth be told, I think you'll actually find they were selling far more of the heritage jersey than they were of the home one so decided it made more sense to have the players in it as well.

And docking competition points for not wearing the "right" jersey? Really?

You're missing the point, read the scenario I posted last night.

The NRL should really be making a solid attempt at securing their brand integrity, its a dramatic measure but it would work. Either that or make a it much bigger fine.

I think this is kind of ironic considering what we're talking about mate.

Surely the Knights wearing a jersey which is instantly identifiable as a Knights jersey is more important for brand integrity (both for themselves and the NRL as a whole) than enforcing a silly rule and forcing them to wear something which none of the fans want?

With the ARL now in charge who knows if the 3yr rule will be kept, they might get rid of it completely once they have some feedback from the jersey survey.
