"IMO they have to be hot favourites now to take out the title (I say this as Parra do not seem to have the powerhouse team like two years ago)."

Definitely favorites but I would not write off Parramatta, Souths & Wests plus a few other sides yet. Parramatta led 16-0 and were cruising only to have the bounce of the ball go against them on top of some silly errors. But I must say the Parramatta halves from last night were disappointing - very slow and did not control the game when it got tight.

Balmain have been very impressive in the SG Ball, they have the best attack in the comp. IMO. Manly look to be the only other consistent team so far, Penrith were very disappointing only just getting away with the Dragons. Souths getting beaten by Canberra was also a bit of a shock, Parramatta, Newcastle and the Doggies don't look like they will be the forces that they have been in recent years. Cronulla drawing with the Reds showed that they won't figure in the top 4 or 5. Tigers v Manly GF I doubt that these 2 teams have played each other in a junior rep Grand Final.

Defensively the Centurions have something special no doubt.

Their attack needs work agains the better sides they will meet at some point but they do have alot of heart like you said.

I agree with you on their attack, I really think the halves need to take ownership. The fullback a quailty player I feel was trying a little to hard. By what I have read the doggies are in the same boat. Like I said injuries play a major roll in how this comp plays out. I think the coast have very tough draw, With no bye. They could scrap into the 8.
Tigers will be there, but cant rely on the 6 or the 8 all the time.

Harold Matts: Balmain have an unbeilevable soft draw and will finish high up on the table but could be found out in the knockout stage. Parramatta should (but need to do it) commence a run to the finals from next week.

LMAO@M4E,

Is it not enough that you had your disrespectful ass booted out of 'Green & Gold' site for upsetting General Lee, now you're going to start bothering the good folk of this forum as well ... lol!

Guess who Mr Hogan (and you will never believe how i figured out your name ... LMAO)!

I second that! However I will qualify that by saying that a Tigers v. Manly final will also be played out in R9.

Sounds like Lord Newbie with an alias. Maybe, just maybe, I should not have called the GPS 'old boys' c**ksuckers, still can't help expounding the truth . It was severe treatment to get a life ban for freedom of speech:sarcasm:.

As for Mr Hogan ???, I am a magpie 4 ever; at least until the end of 2012 when we shall disappear into the great big black hole called "Humphries/Sheens view of the future plus I will finish what my old man 'honest Kev' tried but couldn't do" :x

But I did notice the Parra hooker/dummy half go ok on the weekend:lol:.

LMAO@M4E,

He did indeed! Probably going to be a better junior rep player than his old man as well!:lol::lol:

But I still find it hard to believe that his father would let him play for for Parra. Must be for geographical reasons ... lmao!

Spot on Tuc, believe his old man's game was better suited to netball (his dad is going to love this):lol:. Also I believe his old man cringes everytime he see that blue & gold jersey.;-)

Without placing them into order I will have a shot at calling the top 8. I know it is a big call  but someone must be fearless:sarcasm:.

- Penrith (short price favorites)
- Balmain (could look better in the prelims due to the draw)
- Souths (look a solid outfit)
- Newcastle (too many good footballers not to be a chance)
- Parramatta (need to improve as a unit but stacked with talent)
- Canterbury (hard to predict after their loss to WSA)
- West Sydney Academy or Central Coast or Manly (all play each other
and have hard draws)
- Wests (gutzy, never say die attitude could spring a couple of upsets)
- St George (don't know a great deal about them but have a good
footballer in Matt Dufty)

Shoot, that's 9, too be honest it is a bloody lottery.

Two good games in Canberra today with the locals up against the Bunnies. The Raider's Matts side lost (30-20) but the Ball side held on for a close win (22-16). The both South's sides were noticeably bigger compared to the Raiders.

In the Matts the Raiders scored first but the Bunnies had a lot of speed from the play the ball and were making good yards. When the Raiders got close to the Souths try line they managed to cross, but it was hard work getting there and they couldn't seem to complete many sets. It was 16-10 at half time and although it went try for try to start with, the Bunnies had enough in attack to come away with the win.

The SG Ball was a ripper match and a real arm wrestle with a lot of niggle. Souths scored first and alternating tries saw them up 12-10 at half time. A try a piece had them locked at 16 all with 15 mins to go. Plenty of end to end play and solid line defence with half back Anthony Milford from the Raiders really on song with his kicking game.

Then Milford scores the game breaker from one of the best kicks and chases you'll see (worth trying to find it on video highlights). He converts his try and the Raiders are up 22-16. Milford continues with some perfectly weighted kicks into the Bunnies in-goal to keep them on the back foot. But Souths manage to get down to the Raider's try line and some desperate defence keeps them out until full time.

I haven't seen him play before, but Anthony Milford looks special. He really came alive in the second half and was a real game breaker who was always looking for work. So with wins over the Dogs and the Bunnies the Raider's SG Ball team is on a roll.
Thanks Rocket ...well done

certainly an 8
& I'm not sure if the format will change ....but seeing as they only have a 3 week final series
so straight to prelim finals in week 2 .... I'd doubt it

This is how I believe it goes:

Week 1:

Game A: 1 v 8
Game B: 2 v 7
Game C: 3 v 6
Game D: 4 v 5

Week 2:

Game E: Winner Game A v Winner Game C
Game F: Winner Game B v Winner Game D

Week 3: Final

Winner Game E v Winner Game F

I went down to the Dogs v Centurions game today.
Central Coast team had better attitude and stuck to their game. Dogs where well off their game. Going down 32 - 8. It would have been a bigger score if all conversions had been successful. The coast have got alot promise and good go forward when they play smart footy.
SG Ball - Dogs went well but the Coast boys need to complete sets and not rely on one or 2 players. Silly mistakes cost them. 36- 24?? I think.

How did Lukey Sharpe (CC) go in the Harold Matts? I know his old man.

Out of interest with just 9 rounds and 18 teams in the comp how do they do the draw for SG Ball? Seems we have had a pretty tough one so far with the first 4 games seeing us play 3 of the 4 top of the table teams.

Luke Sharpe played on the wing. He had limited chanceswith the ball but he defended well. He has got alot speed off the mark from what I have seen. He was probably the smallest out there.

Thanks KAB, believe he plays fullback at club level. Always has been a great little tackler even as a 5 year old. His cousin is Jarrod Sammuit (Penrith junior) - plays in the pommy super league.

I believe you will get a real look at how the CC are going over the next 4 weeks (Manly, Souths, Parramatta (would beat Manly by 20 plus points) and Newcastle. Wish them well, if they can win 2 of the 4 and then their last game they should make the quarters.

Regards
