Penrith 6,500 12,200 185

2 biggest membership pullers having the 2 lowest % of crowds to memberships
however the Dragons home grounds only had a capacity of 20K so this would explain a lot for them

Souths home ground has a capacity of 80K
no excuses there ... appalling ratio of members to bums on seats :?

Knights are on 5058 in less than 9 days. Nice. Almost 600 members/day

This whole discussion is completely unfair on the souths. How long have they been sh*t for? Basically any club would be pulling similar numbers with the sort of form they have had since their readmission.

How does the fact that they have done exceptionally well with their memberships make their crowd numbers worse?

Unlike most bottom dwelling teams souths have found a good way to make money even when form/crowds are down.

I also find it laughable to in anyway suggest that the dragons have more of an excuse than souths. They may play in smaller stadiums but they have also been the best team over the last couple of years and even won a premiership.

How about we reverse their form and see how things look.

Edit: Especially funny coming from a raiders fan. They have much bigger crowds and membership numbers than you so stop trying to bring them down and worry about your own team (and yes i realise that this is true of the storm as well).

Second edit: Ok i was wrong we are just ahead in crowds.

Not really an apple for apple comparison there, as you've taken total memberships, not ticketed memberships and compared it to the crowd.

Rabbitohs only had 12,748 ticketed memberships in 2011, so their crowd average was still above that.

Just because Souths has been able to sell a lot more non-ticketed memberships than most clubs, shouldn't count against them that way.

Dragons are another one, their Ticketed member numbers is just over 15K, so less than their total average, and remember at least a third of them would be either Kogarah only or Wollongong only.

Souths have just cracked 10,000 members for 2012!

Source: http://www.rabbitohs.com.au/News/Club-News/Craig-Anderson-is-the-10000th-Member.html

Craig Anderson is the 10,000th Member!

11 Nov 2011

Craig Anderson from Buff Point, NSW has been the lucky Member to Prove his Passion and crack our 10,000 mark for 2012 in record time for the Club.

Craig visited Redfern Oval this morning, and was congratulated by Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire with a giant Rabbitohs Membership card and the first exclusive 2012 Rabbitohs Membership Hat.

Along with Craig, 664 new and 9339 existing Members of our great Club have Proved their Passion and shown their ongoing support and patronage by joining us as we strive to reach our milestones of 13,250 Ticketed Members and in total 22,000 Members.

The Red & Green Family is growing at a rate of 30% ahead of this time last year, which puts the Club in a great position to maintain our No.1 Membership status in the NRL.

When asked how he felt about being the Club’s 10,000th Member, Craid said ‘It’s awesome! The chance to meet the new coach and given I have had 50 years of Souths makes it more special.’

Craig is a Silver Member of the Club, having first joined in 2006 and has a Reserved seat at all Rabbitohs Home Games. Having been a Rabbitohs supporter for over 50 years, Craig joined the Club ‘to support the team I follow to help ensure their survival.’ His earliest memory of the Rabbitohs was ‘playing football at the hill in Redfern Oval when I was five, and supporting Souths at the SCG in the old Sheridan Stand.

Craig will also be attending the annual Return to Redfern match in 2012, where the Rabbitohs will face off against the Warrington Wolves on 28 January 2012. ‘I have been every year.’ Craig explains, ‘It reminds me of my childhood running’s onto the ground at full time as a kid!’

If you know of any Rabbitohs fans that are yet to prove their passion and become a Member of the Rabbitohs, why not encourage them to become part of the Rabbitohs family and in turn register yourself as one of the Club’s top Rabbit Hunters.

All you need to do is make sure your friends and family include your Membership number on their Membership form when they are signing up for a new Ticketed Membership and you will be rewarded!
2012 Rabbit Hunter Rewards include

* An invitation to a Touch Football Match and BBQ with Rabbitohs players plus a tour of the inner sanctum of the Australian Technology Park Performance Centre at Redfern Oval by 2012 Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire for those that recruit four or more new Ticketed Members;

* A signed 2012 Rabbitohs jersey and the opportunity to toss the coin prior to a Rabbitohs home game in 2012 for the best recruiter of new Ticketed Members for season 2012.

Our marketing and membership department is second to none. Loyalty programs as well as rewards for signing up new members has been pioneered by us in the last few seasons and we look like topping the membership numbers for a third straight year with consistent growth despite 4 seasons of missing the finals.

We have a very high floor and god knows where our ceiling is, we're going to explode in size as a club when we finally match our offield performance with performances on the field.

I wonder how many are ticketed members? I dont see the point in bragging about non ticketed membership numbers (even though it's still a good thing)

I heard the Knights are just shy of 6000 TICKETED members in 9 days now, seems like their marketing and membership department is pretty good too Bunniesman

Seems like a massive disproportion between new and renewing

i know they have approx 3k members that roll over automatically season to season.

i also think their membership numbers include every person who get s a vote unlike some other clubs - depending on their structures

either way a good result

congrats to them

Dragons massive spike 7200

Last chance to renew seats, 2 more days.

Unfortunately talk of problems with WIN is going to make people hold back (rumoured we may not play there in 2012)

Correct. The club has released two statements today, one about the club's future in Wollongong, the other about the club's home game split for 2012.

While they're committed to staying in the Illawarra, WIN Stadium home games in 2012 are up in the air until IVA can confirm the future of the Western Stand.

All members should be counted in the main tally , with a seperate tally for fully ticketed to compare what sort of revenue clubs are getting in via memberships.
the NRL did this , this year.

the AFL don't even do this
they have massive numbers of basic & country/interstate packages in their tally's hugely inflating their numbers

A Club Like Collingwood has 70K members , but only half of these are fully ticketed ... still a huge number , nearly 3 times more then any NRL club
but not as impressive when you consider a lot of the other half paid as little as $30 for 3 copies of a club magazine .. a bumper sticker & a fridge magnet.

well if you look at the knights site they are only counting ticketed members, so it's difficult to compare to other teams when they count all their members. Kind of annoying.

In regards to Wollongong Showground, i think we can probably assume that we won't be playing games there in the first half of the season.

The club will probably play the first 6 home games at Kogarah and then hopefully Wollongong will be ready for the remaining 6 games at the end of the season - similar to what happened this year.

non ticketed can be worth $500k plus a year + merchandise sales so i wouldn't say its is worthless! Given some clubs make less than $100k a home game then I would think having 10k non ticketed members would be valuable.

Yeah any money the better. That money will come in handy and cover the marketing department for the season or to hire the ground for the year. Gamedays have costs even if no one bought food or drinks. If no one comes it's harder to get gameday sponsors etc. So both are equally needed.

Penrith don't have a package which doesn't contain a ticket. however does ticket to 1 game count?? Imo no. We should counted full ticketed for grounds only (so both Win's etc). Have a total with a fully ticketed in brackets

I wonder if the broncos will crack 20 000 members. I really hope so :) Also I hope the bulldogs and sharks get more members. Be good to see some bigger crowds.
