I've supported Everton (not a mad soccer fan mind you) since Harry and Dukes left Leeds when I was a wee child.

Chelsea are no certainties of getting all the points against Southampton.

This is a huge weekend for us. We played 17th while Chelsea plays Southampton and United plays Spurs.

Hopefully they all drop points so we have more breathing room for the upcoming tough games.

I am aware of that but you've been pretty quiet about it for the last few years,

therefore bandwagoner

Only 4 once Chelsea plays.

More impressed with Everton so far.

You mean the team that dropped points to Newcastle and West Brom in consecutive weeks? There are no certainties in this league. Especially when playing a team like Southampton, who have beaten Liverpool at Anfield and snagged a point from United at the swamp.

Everton have been doing well. They've got a tough couple of games coming up though. Hopefully you're too tired after the OT trip to put in a decent effort against us next weekend.

We'll know by Christmas whether or not Arsenal are the real deal this season. Games against Everton, Chelsea and City coming up. Throw in Newcastle who are on a decent run at the moment and there's a lot of potential to drop points.

That Man City game is being played 12:45pm the Saturday after we play Napoli away on Wednesday night, and they're last group match is on Tuesday.

Not expecting much from that match

Looks like you're going to get that top of the table clash you were after Bunnies

If you drop points against Citeh it could be a winner-goes-top affair too

Well we've got Everton and City before you guys so I'd be surprised if you weren't within 3, if not ahead, by the time you come to the Emirates.

We're your bitch, just as we are United's, so I can see you guys winning fairly comfortably.

We generally do alright against City but considering the form they're in at home I think we'll be lucky to get anything from that.

Whatever happens it's looking like the current top 3 will be the contenders this season. Everyone else is either average (Spurs/Liverpool) or too far behind (United) to make it a four way race.

Saw an interesting piece of analysis this morning. Of the current top twelve teams, Arsenal has played five so far, beating teams 4, 7 and 9 at home, drawing with team 12 and losing to team 8.

Their other seven wins have been against the teams currently placed 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th

Chelsea has played nine of the top twelve, beating teams 3, 7, 10 and 11, drawing with teams 8, 9 and 12, and losing away to teams 5 and 6

Their other four wins and been against teams 14 and 15 away, and teams 17 and 18 at home.

December could really shake things up a bit - Arsenal play teams 2, 3, 5, 6, 10 and 15, while Chelsea have 1, 4, 13, 16, 19 and 20

Suddenly four points doesn't look like that big a margin...

If you're consistent enough against the bottom 15 or so teams you can afford to drop a lot of points against the top teams. I think we can beat at least one of Chelsea and City and celebrate Christmas in first.

Palace looked like a new team this morning although the opposition was poor.

Is Andy Carroll a chance of playing this year?

Hopefully it's not just the new manager effect, and they can string a few results together

Although as you say, they were playing the virtual bye...

You couldn't have watched the game to have come up with that..

If you did then that's a concern for palace.

It was a dreadfully bad game by two sides in bad form..

Not much more can be said really.

Besides the period before the goal and a bit of shakiness in the second half they were much improved on what they've been in recent weeks.

It was still a dreadful game.

Contenders results:

Arsenal 2-0 Hull
Liverpool 5-1 Norwich
United 0-1 Everton
Sunderland 3-4 Chelsea
Fulham 1-2 Tottenham
WBA 0-3 City

United now 12 points behind the leader and 5 points from 4th. Closer to regulation than to winning the league.
