Rumour is Rooney has agreed to a 4 year contract. 300k a week basepay PLUS image rights PLUS performance bonuses PLUS the captaincy next season.

Do people now see how much overs United will have to pay to attract world class players in the summer if they had to give that much just to keep their own?

It will be very difficult to return to the champions league within 1 year. And if they don't get straight back in they will then need to look at replacing RVP in 2015 while still adding enough quality. Then by 2016 Rooney might be starting to head over the hill.

1 year out of the CL could easily lead to 3 or 4.

This is why the importance of Arsenal scraping into the top 4 the last few years has been so incredibly undervalued. It's so much harder to catchup from 5th than it is from 4th.

Utd have a lot of money to attract big names. The trouble is not all of them will be greedy. More importantly though, they can't spend big money on the wrong players. That will kill them. They talk about their huge revenue worldwide filling up the coffers; but people aren't realising that their revenue will start to fall and fall the more they fail on the pitch. New generations will follow new teams, and they'll lose a lot of fickle fans in Asia.

Ajax still has a huge following in Indonesia and they've done f**k all for nearly two decades now...I think you'd be shocked at how loyal they are here once they become adults. For instance Liverpool is still very popular.

That's true; but I've read that people are generally less likely to jump on the bandwagon in south east Asia than Eastern Asia like China, Japan and Korea. Maybe I'm wrong about that too though.

In saying all of that, what about the new generations of followers that are to come? Sure, some might be brainwashed by their parents, but there will also be a lot who won't be.

RVP is already starting to get old anyway!

He had his chance to move on to a better club

We'll just buy Cavani instead and save some money

2014 - More or less rebuild their defense to replace Vidic/Ferdinand/Evra
2015 - replace RVP
2016 - recruit an elite forward to cover Rooney's decline

They need to do the above just to stay in touch. They'll need to add extra on top of that to close the gap with the top teams.

Like I said before 1 year out of the champions league could turn into 3. And the longer they're out of it the harder top players will be to recruit and the harder it'll be to extend the thousand different sponsors they've gained in recent years.

The task infront of Moyes is harder than most people realise.

Tonights big games:
Chelsea v Everton
Arsenal v Sunderland
City v Stoke
United v Palace

We need to thump Sunderland to get our league momentum back on track. Fortunetly Chelsea and City have tricky opposition. Hopefully Everton and Stoke can be useful and at least get draws.

United really needs to win almost every game to make the champions league. They even need to start doing better just to get 5th (which is where I hope they finish, I want them suffering the burden of Europa next year while trying to regain a CL spot)

It'd be a big effort to even get 5th. If they draw or lose to palace, their hopes of top 4 will be dead and buried for good.

I think mathematically speaking, they can afford to drop points in 3 or 4 more games, and that's only IF the teams above lose almost every game.

Their only hope is if they win the CL

Fingers crossed they get 5th.

6th would actually help them get back in the 4 next year.

In 5th they have midwinter midweek trips to exciting locations like freezing parts of the former soviet union.

I'm gunna have to start cheering for United wins.

I don't understand why the media has basically ignored this. They've certainly highlighted the spinning tail, but when it comes to talking about the top 4, the worst I've heard is something like:
'united top 4 hopes now in danger.'

You're assuming that Sunderland will win the League Cup

If Citeh win it, at least the top six will be off to Europe

Chelsea stole the points in Fergie time.

Arsenal having a training run against Sunderland.

City currently at over 200 minutes of gametime since their last league goal.

Sunderland are absolutely f**king stupid  Everyone knows the way to beat Arsenal is get in their faces, yet straight from the kick off they just stood back like stunned mullets and let Arsenal run rings around them!

They clearly weren't interested in the game. Most of their players just wanted to get through uninjured for Wembley.
