Manchester United are not City or Chelsea.

There is no circumstances in which they'd drop a manager in year 1 of a 6 year contract. He's going to have a full summer with a lot of money. He's going to do deals along the lines of 35m for Carroll because as Liverpool will tell them, being out of the CL means overpaying for underwhelming talent. Then he'll be given a real go of competing next season.

If they miss CL football for a second year in a row then I think they'd let him go. But by then they'll be in a big hole.

They have more problems than they think. RVP and Rooney are too old to be a big part of the next great United team. (Yes Rooney is 28 but the way he lives I think his 30 is the equivalent of a Lampard or Gerrard at 35)

Seriously though, I think David Usher wrote a really good piece on ESPNfc.com which may sum up the reasons for the defensive issues Liverpool are having this season -

I thought that was a good piece too...but I still don't understand how offensive strategy makes defenders have bad brain snaps and cause mistakes, i.e kolo own goal, kolo suicide pass, skrtel and flanagan fighting with eachother to clear the ball against fulham, skrtel's stupid penalty against Swansea...absolutely frustrates me.
