Burwood beat The Entrance in the 9's last year too...means zilch when RMC starts

I meant that Entrance would have to improve if they wanted to do well in the 7's. This year they lost to a Sydney Shield team in the 9's.

There was a bit of flooding in the Northern part of NSW.

Does anyone know if the pre-season comp starts this week? If so what teams are in what pools and what time are the games?

thanks joker and roland. So they're playing games at both lidcombe and aulbrey keech reserve? wouldve been good to have all games at the same venue like last year. That way people could watch all teams playing at the same venue, never the less, im looking forward to finally watching some sydney shield and RMC this week, should give a decent indication on how good the teams will be, well sort of anyway. I remember last year st johns got smashed in all pre season comp games and went on to win their first 9 games in the comp, but anyway like I said cant wait.

Looks like sunday has the "A" league at Aubrey Keach and "B" league at Lidcombe.

There are trophies for the preason but they are only trials.

Last year they cancelled the 1st week too early. There is rain forecast for the rest of the week and 2 games were cancelled at AK on the weekend.

Last year the St Johns coach put in only 3 Bundy players in the game against Auburn and the next week he added Mostyn and they beat Burwood by 20 points but no one had any idea of the powerful team that take the field in round 1 with 12 players that did not appear in OAMPS.

Hopefully the program has the team lists like last year as that will guide us the clubs that have lousy websites - which for the preseason was everyone apart from Mounties and Kingsgrove.

The other thing to note is that there are 12 teams in SS preseason but only 11 in the draw in the NSWRL website - Burwood North Ryde is the addition.

Going to be good to see the new teams have a hit out and see where they are at, also be good to see teams that have recruited fairly large in Mounties and Auburn. Going to be a great first weekend of footy!

Wests players will be out to prove they deserve a spot in the side.
Blacktown may not be ready for this.
Prediction: Wests beat Blacktown by 12.

None of the other clubs have listed their teams on their websites but Wenty has announced its team of the century. I understand that the process was to pick a team for each decade and then merge them into one team. Very difficult for the early years - there would not be many living persons that saw Wenty play from 1912-1930.

The team is:
No1 Fullback - Les Rigby

No2 Wing - Tom Croghan

No3 Centre - Bill Morris (C)

No4 Centre - Rex Lean

No5 Wing - Ken Antonelli

No6 Five Eight - Lewis Jones

No7 Halfback - Don Tosh

No8 Prop - Nathan Cayless

No9 Hooker - Bert Harris

No10 Prop - Graham Olling

No11 Second Row - Paul Gallen

No12 Second Row - Keith Campbell

No13 Lock - Rod Blundell

No14 Reserve - Ron Croghan

No15 Reserve - Lou Zivanovic

No16 Reserve - Des Roots

No17 Reserve - Noel Cornwall

Coach - Ian McCann

Manager - Mick Jordan

Shane Shackleton named for Mounties for this weeks OAMPS Cup game. Great news for the RM cup

Just got word Aaron Groom will be back at Asquith/Norths this season after been advised he needs to be playing a higher standard of football if he wants to play for Fiji in this years World Cup. Big plus to both Asquith and Norths, will really give something to both these teams from dummy half

Pat Galea and Shane Shackleon are obviously after some game time after the washout on the weekend.

There are some very established Bundy players in the Sydney Shield team.

The lists indicate some more signings:

Brett Lahey returns from Group 6 champions, East Campbelltown, following his brother.

Tim Taatuaa from Auburn Warriors - scored 10 tries in 2 weeks last year - 5 against Kingsgrove in Bundy and then was dropped to SS the next week to qualify for the finals and scored 5 tries against St Johns

Blake South - Penrith NYC and which Tia Kilifi is on the wing?

wow, all i can say is what a big difference to last years teams. Mounties have practically the best sydney shield team ive seen lol. Casey Ellis, Vinnie uelese playing sydney shield? Ben ellis, sam brunton, terrie glassie, pat galea, I thought would be playing state cup. Just shows the amount of talent and depth they have at mounties, the only question is will the lads stick around to play at a lower level then they should be playing? who knows. Cabra i agree with you there roland. Backs have some new names but still have the big names, while the forwards dont really look as dominant as previous years. Doesnt look like newtown have dropped anyone yet so itll be interesting to see cabras team in the upcoming weeks. Cabras sydney shield, i cant see any names from last years team. would really like to see wentys team list.

Galea was captain of the State Cup team last year and trained with the Raiders over summer so I am sure that he and Shackleton are merely putting another game under the belts.

Because OAMPS cup have only trial status there is no points cap - Shackleton and Ben Ellis would take up 40 out of 100 so even Ellis may have trouble fitting into Bundy when the real comp starts.

Cabra have Israel Folau's brother Ene in their Bundy side. Aaron Teariki is on the bench and he played with Wests State Cup last year.

Cabra take on Belrose in SS. The Eagles were fairly casual with trials when they came into Bundy years ago but if the big guns - Jason Wells, Jim Curtis, Shannon Cameron, James Mortimer, Dave Marando etc - are on board and ready to go, they will go well.

It appears Mortimer, who is about 27 and looks much like his younger brother, Daniel, will be coaching the Eagles this year. Perhaps he can lure his other brother, Tim over from Valley.

Mate, there is absolutely nothing on the Auburn website except junior registration details.

Windsor may put their team up but their twitter website seems to be all NSW Cup.
