That was the old Australian Rugby League coat of arms. It was never intended to be anything like the Australian coat of arms. It had two Kangaroos on it and a map of Australia made up of boomerangs. This piece of shit on the new jersey is just a horrible manipulation of the proper coat of arms to incorporate this chevron they are desperate to put on absolutely everything all of a sudden. If they're so keen on the chevron, how about getting the f**king thing right on the bloody jersey!

Here's ECT's perfect Roos jersey, although he'll probably complain about the white collar

You would think that for a photo shoot to promote the new NSW jersey they could have found a car that had New South Wales on the licence plate rather than South Australia. Especially as the photo was taken in NSW and is being used to advertise origin.

Yeah mine too but we don't live in 1949 any more and unfortunately there are commercial reasons why jerseys have to change/evolve. Just a fact of life sadly.

Yep, doesn't mean that certain elements couldn't be reused though. The coat of arms on a shield would be cool.

How dare I expect that the Australian jersey look like an Australian jersey and have the Australian coat of arms on it. And to try and suggest that "commercial reasons" are behind such uneccessary and grotesque changes is just nonsense. There is NO commercial reason for changing the jersey design, shorts and socks and certainly no reason to vandalise the coat of arms with arbitrary chevrons. In fact the fact that no one likes it suggests that it is commercially disastrous to do it because no bastard will buy it, and rightly so, and the game will be ridiculed for what it has done to the coat of arms, also quite justifiably.

what does everyone think about the money? it seems good to me.

i see the author tries to compare the deal with V8's and AFL. doesn't seem like apples and apples to me.

the AFL comparison seems good. we're getting half as much for origin, a few kangaroos games and the 20's. toyota apparently pays twice as much to sponsor the whole AFL premiership? and holden sponsors the V8 drivers championship and we're getting twice as much as that.

i think they've done ok here...thoughts?

The sponsorship money far exceeds the profit from merchandising. Sucks that it wrecks the design but as long as the money is spent for the betterment of the code I can live with it.

Agree with Starkers.

When you take into account our lower grade comps rarely had sponsors say 10-15 years ago - now we're in an age where major corporations sponsor FG, 20's, NSW & QLD State Cups and up until this year even Metro Cup (Bundy Red, now Ron Massey).

If we've got them spending just half the money Toyota do for the whole AFL premiership we're doing pretty damn well.

Can't believe the f**kers played around with the coat arms. If they were going to do that, the least they could of done was made an announcement that the Australian Coast of Arms were being replaced by a new Australian Rugby League Coast of Arms.

You would think that for a photo shoot to promote the new NSW jersey they could have found a car that had New South Wales on the licence plate rather than South Australia. Especially as the photo was taken in NSW and is being used to advertise origin.

I'm sure that's the first thing everyone noticed the only thing they have been talking about since.

f**k off with sponsoring the national team. That jersey should be sacred. We just doubled our tv rights income. Surely we don't need the relatively tiny amount we're getting for Kangaroos sponsorship and surely it's not worth ruining the best jersey in rugby league.

There should be a big "not for sale" sign on the green and gold.

I reckon it looks pretty good. The Holden logo doesn't naturally fit well on that jersey, but they've done we'll
given the limitation.
