YES NOT ILLAWARRA ENOUGH...Have a look at the tokenistic thin white sleeve stripes that are too close together.. They have also put the stripes in the worst possible spot where players these days tape up their sleeves so all we end up with is a plain red jersey.

As you can see from these pictures (one of them being the current jr jersey) there have been designs that were more than just two hoops on the arms.

or have a look at this one (again an Illawarra jr jersey)…nice thick white stripes with a decent gap between.

so my design isn't that far off from being a modern version of an Illawarra jersey..ohh and get rid of that stupid green dragon!!!

1. You have mixed up the CRL Illawarra Flame Trees rep jumper with the Steelers. That 1st pic is the CRL jersey.

2. The jumper Luke Patten is wearing was worn for only a few years, the rest was a full scarlet jumper with 2 white stripes on the sleeve. Yes the stripes on the current jumper are closer than previous, but jumpers become more modern and these days sleeves are shorter than they were in the 80's + 90's. If you want to get them on the sleeve, they have to be closer otherwise they ate going to be near the shoulder (though I wish I could still buy today's St George jumper in 3/4 sleeve, but its not going to happen).

3. No Steelers fan would buy your jumper. If anything it looks like the St George blood + bandages but with less white. Ex-Steelers + Steelers fans who aren't fans of the merger want a scarlet jersey with 2 white stripes on the sleeve. Whilst todays jumper has a darker red, it is a modern Illawarra jumper and those fans are happy.

Just a word of friendly advice sheepbender, and please don't take this as me being a dick. If you are going to liaise with companies about their products, you do yourself a great dis-service by not paying attention to your spelling and grammar. Even well thought out, sensible arguments can come across as the ravings of a madman if the grammar and spelling is shoddy. You will be amazed at how much more effective and influential your communication can be if you take the time to present it correctly. I know people who work in these roles and they just write people off if they can't spell.

I definitely agree with you, any words I'm not sure on, I do a quick google.. Grammars probably not great but you'll have to point out the spelling mistakes because I only do a quick scan before hitting enter.

They're only as aggressive as the club is happy to accept.

I'm sure there are plenty of Dragons fans that actually like the fact that their club is associated with a popular global brand.

Sure, companies such as Adidas and Reebok have a reputation built on quality product and good marketing, Canterbury are at the lower end of this group of companies but are still well known. Reebok have treated the Dragons jersey (minus the wolverine disaster) with respect and haven't felt the need to add further touches to promote their brand. Adidas, for the most part did right by them as well, they DID put the three stripes on the red alternates but mercifully left the red V alone. If its ok for these recognisable brands to subdue their branding why do Canterbury, whose templates are made primarily for plain jersey applications, need to lower the quality of their product for the sake of recognition? At least 3 stripes has longevity, what will awkward templates and trashy sublimation do for their brand recognition 10 years from now?

Well der...

I think its obvious as well, certain companies seem to have forgotten of late...

The Roosters home jersey is pretty much perfect as it, just need to return to the old cockerel logo.

Not just those who are unhappy. Those of us who have embraced the joint venture and become fans of St George, Illawarra and St George Illawarra still love the current alternate jersey design
I have three version of it myself. The original Classic "Illawarra heritage round" cotton version, the Reebok Y-neck 2010 heritage jersey version and the 2012 alternate jersey version.

The Dragons alternate should definitely be Steelers 'inspired' but that doesnt necessarily mean it has to be a carbon copy of an old hersey. With that in mind, my take on a St George alternate - Steelers white on red combined with Dragons V

fortysevenrobots.com/nrl-jersey-concepts/st-george-illawarra-dragons.html#alternate-white-v

Justification for the 'squashed' V is two part - mostly to stop the V being cut off by the sponsor, partly because there's only so many ways to draw the 'traditional' St George V over and over again…

^ I could live with that for one season as the alternate. It's actually quite good.
