bench is a mistake. mcqueen and gillett are in the same mould. we dont need both. disappointed any one of lillyman, kennedy, or maguire didn't get selected. need another middle defender, especally with shillo only a couple weeks back from injury. oh well, its the australian backline that will still win the game for us.

Crappy bench. Parker isn't worthwhile off the bench. The other 3 barely deserve to be there.

Would prefer to see some actual props.

Surely they'll start Parker and have either Thaiday or Myles on the bench. Otherwise after 20 minutes our go-forward will be non-existent.

Surely we need to learn from the mistakes of Ricky Stuart who thought he could stack a team with back rowers and win.

Or ... have we been played the three card trick. Currently NSW have only two specialists front rowers - Tamou and Fifita. Will they pick Grant or Woods to replace Gidley?

I Cant believe that Qld has changed its winning formula of a 4 prop rotation ,to copy NSW's losing formula.
Jesus H f**k you have to be kidding me.

I thought Parker was quite handy in that role for us in 2011.

And he was looking quite strong in Game 2 2012 until he suffered that nasty gash part-way through the second half.

I'm not happy with the bench but it's like the Kidley situation where fans are getting too caught up in it's value. Queensland have sported some seriously average benches over the course of their 7 series victories - it's meant little in the wash up.

The McQueen selection is a pisstake surely.

His and Gillett's selection are clear indications of QLD's lack of forward depth. It is a real genuine concern for this year and the next few years until we can get some decent forwards comming through our ranks that are ready for SOO (im looking at Mcguire & Kennedy). The backline needs no introduction but honestly if NSW dosen't exploit out lack of class in shillington & our bench they really do deserve to lose 8 in a row.

That said i hope they smash them, the forward packs got a big task to do so i hope new young guys can do their bit.

big hit!

QLD won't be starting the match in #8 to #13. They're not fooling anyone.

Myles and Thaiday are in the prop rotation.

This is how I see this forward pack at the start of the match:
PF - Scott
PF - Myles
MF - Parker
RF - Gillett
LF - Harrison

IP - Shillington
IP - Thaiday
IF - T'eo
IF - McQueen

At least another prop needed to be picked in this squad. Thaiday is like Gallen. Don't give a shit if he plays for the Broncos there. He's undersized for the role.

Kasiano, Graham & Toleman proved the other night that there is not substitute for real props who roll through the middle. And they did it against at least two blokes who will patrol the middle third for QLD on Wednesday week - Thaiday & Parker.

The only saving grace for QLD is that Daley is just as much a nuffy and has picked two props to few as well. If he has a brain, he will use the good fortune of Gidley going out by bringing in Grant and monster the weakness which is now the QLD middle, like QLD had been doing to NSW with Petero, Scott, Hannant & Shillington & Myles the last few seasons.

McGuire is underdone.

Has an ongoing calf problem and still needs to fix up some deficiencies.

Glad too, Brisbane shouldn't have donated as many players as they did.

Calf problem is fine, his coach and captain didn't help his chances by gobbing off . He played 50-60 mins last week against bulldogs.
Broncos are just wanting to keep some players back from origin. they had better treat their players better otherwise more will be wanting to leave the club.

Despite the criticism, I've warmed to this side after a day to consider it.

There's no way that Myles is going to play on the left edge, he's a prop now or a lock who plays exactly like a prop. Teo or Parker will start in his place and he's coming off the bench and will play prop all night long. From memory, I think Teo plays on the right so it may be Parker who starts. Souths fans could correct me there.

After having some success in Sydney for a few years our recent record there has started to wane. Our large forwards have succumbed to fatigue and the NSW approach of mobile forwards has proven to be effective. Obviously, a different approach was taken this year and it is worth a shot. Back in Brisbane Hannant's will come back into the side or Kennedy may be drafted. Of that I am almost certain.

Should Parker start, that it a real boost for Queensland. He provides the offloads that have been lacking from the side. Twice last year in Game 3 his offloads were the spark to Queensland tries. I thought he was particularly effective.

This is a good side, and will really take it to a hungry NSW. With more variety in kicking options and points of attack than NSW, we should get the job done. Going to Brisbane one up is vitally important.
