I'm kinda hoping Leicester get a draw tomorrow morning for two reasons - keep them above the drop zone and make the race to the title a little more interesting. I'd rather a close finish than one than can be secured 3 weeks before the end of the season.

Congrats to Bournemouth on the promotion. Should be fun to watch them next season. Shame that Udinese's reserves will join them though, they'll be down easily next season. The playoffs should be great as well, a real coin toss for who'll emerge as winner.

Oh well...

The race for fifth is where the real interest is now

I'd rather win in March to be honest, that'd be interesting to me, but that's just me.

How about that magic hat?!

That Ramires strike was just brilliant.

I've never wanted to wish away a weekend like I have this one.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Accounts for the year to 30 June 2014

Ownership Enic International Limited, registered in the Bahamas (tax haven), owns 85% of Spurs. Joe Lewis, resident in the Bahamas, has the controlling 70.6% ownership of Enic; trusts of which chairman Daniel Levy and family are the beneficiaries own the other 29.4%.

Turnover 6th highest, £181m (up from £147m in 2013)

Match receipts £35m

TV and media £90m

All commercial activities £56m

Wage bill 6th highest, £100m (up from £96m in 2012)

Wages as proportion of turnover 55%

Profit before tax £80m (up from £4m in 2013)

Net debt Nil; £3m in bank

Interest payable £7m

Highest-paid director £2.17m paid to Daniel Levy

State they’re in

Spurs’ finances speak of a club making ready to build the long-planned new stadium and two figures leap out. The first is the £80m profit, the largest ever made by an English football club; Spurs say this was effectively the proceeds of selling Gareth Bale to Real Madrid which was then reinvested in new players. Spurs’ TV income was up £32m, they held the wage increase to only £4m, and put £35m in the bank. Such riches rather undermine Spurs’ plea they could not afford £16m agreed for public infrastructure works, which Haringey council waived.

The second remarkable figure is chairman Daniel Levy’s salary £2.17m – presumably for all of the above.

all the other teams here as well

Now before everyone says but Bale money, thats over 6 years and we already spent, or wasted, a lot of it.

Once our new stadium complex is built we are going to be extremely wealthy and generate our own high income, but at the end of the day it means nothing if we don't spend it properly and don't win any trophies.

Take out the one off Bale money and you don't have a record profit. Simple as that. Your turnover shows where you are at relative to other clubs. Overall income is most important because that is where FFP comes in.

And yes there's lots of talk of stadiums but building a world class stadium is easier said than done. It was hard enough for Arsenal, and you'll be doing it without Champions league money.

oh ffs, did you even read it

Bale's money is over 6 years for a start and we spent it, which means its gone which means its not profit.

You're the one that's simple.

And we've done everything without Champions League money.

What's the point of making such significant profits if you're stuck in an endless cycle between 4th and 8th?

It's not like it's you get a share of the money, I'd be screaming for some of that to be spent. Thats 3-4 quality players.

good point, but we're all about the new stadium complex atm

that record profit was a one off, I'm not sure we do that all the time so there could be a spend up coming in the TW

have to wait and see I guess

This article does a good job of explaining how hard it is for any club to break into the top 4. Liverpool did and they had one summer where they had CL football to offer. One summer that they needed to get perfect to ensure they could stay in the 4. And they messed it up.

Ignorant Arsenal fans had been screaming for us to spend our savings every summer from 2005 to 2012. But we needed that buffer to ensure we could pay off the stadium. If Tottenham want a world class stadium they won't be able to borrow that much money without cash in the bank.

And even without the above, having X in the bank doesn't mean you have that much to spend on transfer fees. Remember every top player you bring in is at least 10 mill a year added to your wage budget. So if you bring in a star and give him 5 years, 80 million is more like 1 player, not 3 or 4.

I'm thoroughly delighted to be wrong. That second half was incredible. Title all but secured for the great Blues.

The only real contest now is the make up of the order for 2-4 and the 3rd relegation spot (QPR and Burnley are gone for mine). Hopefully it's Sunderland, can't stand them.

A lot depends on when you sold Bale and spent the money.

The story itself states Spurs say the profit came from the sale of Bale which was then reinvested in players.
So it looks to me that they sold him before year end and spent the money in the next year.

We probably have to give a guard of honour to Chelsea next week...won't Jimbo love this.

No you don't. That's a home team thing (as in welcoming the champions). If we were playing at Anfield then yeah you probably would, but at the Bridge I don't see why you should.

But feel free to if you like...
