He probably felt like doing that yesterday.
Anyway, 11:00am, new day, more tennis. Another 64 games to go today

I'll give him credit, he seems to have matured a bit this year, but still has more to go. Last night after retiring, the crowd booed him off the court and he said "Sorry" - what's the kid supposed to do? He didn't want to go out like that, and he was injured. He's gotta think of himself, the longer he went on, the worse that injury could've gotten putting him out of the game for longer!
Bingo. That merkin has not matured at all.
If Hewitt would have retired under those circumstances nobody would have batted an eyelid. Tomic has a very ugly history of throwing the towel in. That will not be easy for him to shake off.
Australia does not like a bigmouth who does not make use of their talent. Tomic fits that bill.

Surely it was obvious to everyone watching that he was genuinely injured? After the very first point he was grimacing in pain and trying to stretch out his groin and his movement was even worse then it usually was.
Agree with you here mate. Some people are judging him based on reputation. He has a whole year of tennis to play, why play on with it and risk being out for even longer?
I reckon he was honestly injured and I've see people push injuries before and then blow the rest of te season away, whether it be athletics, footy or tennis.
The crowd didn't get what they paid for but isn't the more important thing his health?
Daniela now leads 11-10 - has a womens match ever gone this long at the AO?
