the storm just need to find a clever, subtle way of incorporating them.
Pennies really have had a missed opportunity not using brown anymore. Whatever their reasons, and I'm sure there are valid ones, they should've changed back after SL or at least after this new rebranding
its not rocket science is it?
Sorry Timmah - but I have to comment on this
Please make this your next alternative jersey Penrith

The change wasn't related to Super League however? It was in 1991 before SL even was thought of.
Considering the club won there first Grand Final in the licorice all sorts jersey I would imagine its got a bit more "history" to it than the "chocolate" soldiers one.
I assume they changed because the chocolate soldiers just wasn't selling.
I remember reading once that Penrith's actual district colours were sky blue and black, but because the Sharks got in first, they had to change? (or is this a myth?)

In the old days a lot of teams from the area were called nepean and their colours were green and gold...across a lot of sports... they all seemed to start getting called Penrith and wearing the licorice colours about the time the league club did... don't know the story behind the change....
Brown is a pretty ugly colour in most peoples eyes. The only reason most of you would be pushing for that jersey would be nostalgia (not that thats a bad thing), but that nostalgia would only be shared amongst hard core fans.
This is why i was hopeful that they would fully embrace the black and gold that was rumoured (the colours on their training shirts).
To me, this is a nice throwback to the brown jersey (they could have used one of their old designs in this new colour), but it has a nicer look to it than the old chocolate soldier jersey.
From what I have read in publications about Penrith's history, it was all about a fresh change - in terms of sales, the club went from one of the least popular to most popular on the back of going to the licorice allsorts. Being the frontrunners and then premiers in the first season probably helped too...
i know people like reminiscing about brown jerseys, but how many of you have brown shirts or pants you wear regularly?
whilst i think a heritage jersey of brown would look cool, i don't see too many people in general who like wearing brown
i suspect that most teams will have 9's jerseys for the $$
