With respect,

If you are going to kill clubs to make room for expansion clubs you should start with the weakest, the first stop being the gold coast. They are far bigger drain on the game and embarrassment with there made up 12k crowds then any other club.

The broncos, for having Brisbane to itself have pitiful crowds and membership, considering that the QRL has declined since they joined the nswrl you have to question whether the broncos have been good for rugby league or not?

Actually, before finishing, I think it is worth reiterating that point, the broncos joined the NSWRL to play against other NSW/ACT based clubs. Why didn't they just join the QRL since Queenslanders have the business of rugby league so figured out?

I think they got the Gold Coast wrong again.
If they put this club near Logan it would be booming now.
They have made so many wrong bets we must be running out of wrong bet tickets.
Wait and see.

remember Broncos basically have all of Brisbane to get. add a 20 year juggernaut dynasty under Wayne which included 6 premierships and thats why Brisbane look really good.

you will lose more fans then you gain (if any) if you force sydney into 6 clubs.... if some Sydney clubs folded, the fans of those clubs would tell NRL to shove it where the sun dont shine and go cold turkey on RL completely.

I think they are already gone, only the diehards left in Sydney.
Memberships equal or are less than crowd figures, so if your going to start over again, now is the time to expand, cut, and chop.
Those teams can join the NSW cup, their crowds are similar.

It's about gettign people used to it, build up the base of people you are talking to. It looks short sighted, but this is a long term game. Next season you have a great database to push memberships from when they are available. Makes it easier to sneak one in for a xmas present etc.

And when they talk memberships, people see that it costs say $40 to be a member, or $80 for a 3 game pass. Most times people spend the extra. Thing is you need to get them looking first.

DOW appreciate your thoughts.

Would really love to know the breakdown of membership numbers compared to season ticket holders for each club. And have the season ticket holder numbers improved each year.

Right now all we get is one number and that could mean anything.

20k and it's all good considering the Roosters are the following
a) Foundation club
b) Reigning premiers

If we had 20k members you would either say it wasn?t high enough or claim that a good portion was bandwagon support.

The facts are that we have increased our membership year on year for 5 years now which is a good result in anyone?s language.

No, he is actually right.

In spite of and despite are synonyms.

Only he/she/it meant it in the context of the Roosters are doing well in spite of their disappointing efforts last year in winning the premiership.

spite [spahyt] Show IPA

1.

3.

verb (used with object), spit·ed, spit·ing.
4.
to treat with spite or malice.
5.
to annoy or thwart, out of spite.
6.
to fill with spite; vex; offend.

I think we can actually say 7 consecutive years of growth if you go back to Freddy's 5,000 in 2008.

But you're right, nothing will be good enough I feel.
