Some positive stuff on Peats

A few months ago Pou informed us of his army mate who had taken the eels and then souths (the following year) on an army style training camp where they attempt to break the players. Pou reported (and as expected) the eels were piss weak where as Souths were tough as. I have heard from another source (who is involved with strength and conditioning within the NRL) that Nathan Peats was one of, if not the stand out of the bunch at Souths.

Good stuff

Maybe also one of the reasons he has kept Luke out of the starting 9 at times.

Luke is definitely the superior player but obviously attitude will take you along way.

I think he is a more than decent pick up for us.......definitely can't be more disappointing than MK!

No doubt that Luke being kept out of the starting side is because he is a merkin.

Peats arseholed for tonight's match.

None of our 2014 signings are playing NRL this weekend. Sticky has signed a bunch of reserve graders!!!

This one is for you Pou.

Do you think blokes like Peats and Mossop will be able to tighten our defence around the middle, so we don't compress in so much, that we constantly find ourselves short out wide?

Can't really see peats being a better defender than mk, so not sure if his presence will make a difference.

Not too sure about mossop.

I know MK makes a heap of tackles, but lately ive noticed he is inaffective. IMO his defence looks to have declined. Maybe it's a confidence thing?

I think they will help the cause, but won't be able to do it alone.

From what i hear/see about Mossop, he seems to have a level head on his shoulders, as does Peats, so hopefully they can both start to help us win the battle of the ruck.

iFreak makes a good point about Peats' defence; it's not any better than Keating's. But where Peats will help our ruck speed is in attack, where he can help our runners get quicker play-the-balls by drawing defenders away from them.

Mossop is a big bloke so should help our defensive wrestle more than midgets like Fui and Mannah, and even Peni Terepo.

Peats is taller than MK, so he will be right lol.

He should be a massive boost for us out of dummy half in that regard. We haven't had a real quailty 9 since Piggy. We all know that has been a major problem.

Agree 100%.

Mk fails to get his runners over the advantage line. If peats can do that, it puts us in a good position. With mk at dummy half, we have failed completely in asking the defensive line questions, and having them on the back foot.

Having the opposition back peddling creates opportunity for our quicker, wider men. The idea is a back peddling defensive line, will turning into a tiring attacking outfit.

Who knows, maybe sandow is the answer with a decent hooker.

I've thought for a long time that us lacking a quality hooker that can do this, is hurting us big time. No pressure Nathan lol.

It's become clear that the game is all about big forwards and smart dummy halves making things easy for them.

Remember when we made a grand final in '09 with a lightweight pack and Matt Keating starting at hooker? f**k the game has changed.
