Taylor will always be undersized, his big hope is if the interchange goes from 10-6, that's when guys his size will become abit more valuable

Greg Bird has again been mentioned in dispatches about a possible return to his junior club, but it won’t be happening.
After re-signing Dane Gagai and the Mata’utia brothers, the Knights have allocated what is left of their salary cap to retaining Kade Snowden, Jeremy Smith and Jake Mamo, among others, and leaving a little left over to recruit a player who does not carry Bird’s price tag.

Great job recruitment team! :-(

Lol. You can bet we're re-signing Gidley too just so the cap is really unbalanced to the outside backs. Really irresponsible management there. I didn't want Bird but we sure as hell need another quality prop (a half too but given there's not really any good ones available I'm not too disappointed there).

How can we have no money left in our salary cap? When you compare what we have to souths or the roosters we have to be paying massive overs.

Seriously though if Smith is retained it should be on a small contract with the promise of a job within the club after that or something. You don't throw big money at a 35-year-old to retain him. Smith has a young family and they don't want to go anywhere. He'd stay for a small contract. Use that to our advantage. Jesus.

I know we're going to give Snowden a massive upgrade which isn't needed. He doesn't want to leave and knows he hasn't given the club his best form so he wouldn't insist on huge money.

Mamo is another f**king outside back. Small base contract with incentives if he plays a lot of FG only. If he leaves he leaves. Not worth getting into a bidding war over when he'll struggle to make the team as it is. I like the kid and don't want him to come back and bite us but we need to be smarter.

Can only hope Stone is thinking of the future and has plans to move on McManus and/or BJ next year. Seriously, what is our recruitment plan? Have an entire side full of outside backs (and Houston of course) by 2017?

There's no way Snowden should be given a massive upgrade. What do people think he'd get at other clubs?

Overs, and no third party money.

Half the cap is spent on seven players, Aku, Korbin, Snowden, Tariq, Gagai, Mullen and Sione.

There's no way Snowden should be given a massive upgrade. What do people think he'd get at other clubs?

Merrin got 750k, so on this years (contract, cough cough) form, he'd be looking at 500k.

Hohaia is wanting a return to Australia. Would go alright in the 7 for a couple. of years. It is time for us to go to the ESL and have a look around. Plenty of big boppers who would play for lower end deals. Similar to Mike Cooper at Saints. We cannot afford to be this short sighted. And for the ESL prejudiced I actually wonder how many actually watch the forwards over there. There is some real quality.

You really think we should get rid of BJ? I would hope he's in the clubs long term plans tbh, he's clearly not fully fit at the moment but he's still been good this season and has massive potential.

I don't say that because I want to get rid of BJ. It's more because I think we'll need to lose another back next year to balance the squad.

BJ will probably command a lot more money next contract and I don't know how we could possibly give another back large money when we already have Uate, Gagai and Sione on large contracts. I'm looking at this purely from a salary cap perspective...nothing to do with BJ's ability. I'd be ecstatic if we could get him to stay on his current money but realistically he's going to want a big pay rise after Gagai and Sione got one.

I say we'll try and sign them both up again though. Just not sure that would be the best idea given the squad is already unbalanced.

I do agree with you on McManus. I think it'd be best if he moved on or took a massive pay cut to be a depth player but knowing the Knights management they'll probably upgrade his contract

The news is saying DCE is staying in Manly? We should find it easier to find a half now right?

He has been outstanding for St Helens. I am aware he is more of a utility. I thought he was excellent throughout the finals series in Super league at halfback. Controlled the games very well.

you hear this crap a lot about certain players. hohaia would probably go to Melbourne and kill it. Blake Green is going very well under Bellamy after being labelled as shit by many. Bellamy is not afraid to give so called has beens a crack and make them into much better players. Bennett was the same. Not all work. I know that. For the right price what have you got to lose. Lance has played some very good seasons at the Warriors as both a half and fullback. The bloke can organise a game. That is all I want.

What a performance from Elgey today against the Panthers. This kid has bucket loads of talent and the style of half that the Knights badly need.

Sadly our recruitment still thinks Roberts is the answer even though he has had more than 3 years and still cannot nail it.

How could we be losing Scott and not have the cash to hit the market?

Do we have literally no third party money?
