Canberra should be averaging as much as the top Sydney teams based purely on teams per population method then.

Can't believe 4 Sydney teams across two games has only drawn 21k fans. The NRL and clubs needs to get their heads out of the sand and do something, it's getting Aleague level embarrassing in our strongest heartland.

Saying it is a good game to watch on TV that's why people don't go to games is the biggest load of BS excuse ever. Reality is it comes down to how commited to supporting a club are the fans, what barriers are influencing that commitment and doing something about that. For manly to draw 8k against another Sydney team and bulldogs 12k against a local rival is painful. Broncos should be selling out, Warriors should be up around 25k, raiders should be able to get 15k every game. We're so far from where we should be as a top tier comp in Australia it is embarrassing. We won't ever be at afl level but 20-30k crowds should be achievable if we are serious.

11,000 looking at Newcastle. There was free entry for kids today with purchase of adult ticket, not sure if it was just with online though.

Bad timing as usual as Disney on Ice is on next door at the Entertainment Centre. Perfect timing by Knights.

Edit: Back entrance to Eastern stand again had to working ticket scanner. Guy was just waving us in, so take crowd with grain of salt.

The clubs and NRL do not truly give a shit about crowd numbers.
They pay lip service, but they do not really care.
It's all about the TV dollar.

We need to make people feel like they are attending an "event".
And treat people less like a number, and more like part of the club.

Just in my personal opinion anyway

The clubs and the NRL need to try to do something- what I don't know...

TV ratings are up this year, so the interest is still there... Just doesn't translate into getting people going to games...

I think people blaming Origin is a bit of a cop out.. There are still good games ( NQ v Canberra - Titans v Dogs last week - both had ordinary crowds in good weather...)

This joint needs new ticket scanners!

This why they should most def care. Still easier for the clubs to whinge that the NRL isn't giving them enough money I suppose?

West Coast earned a staggering $16 million in net membership revenue (what clubs made once costs were subtracted) compared to Collingwood’s $10.4 million and the game’s rising financial power, Fremantle ($10.2 million). Adelaide ($7.6 million) and Geelong ($7.1 million) were fourth and fifth, ahead of closely bunched Victorian powers Hawthorn ($6.3 million), Richmond ($6.3 million), Essendon ($6.1 million) and Carlton ($6 million).

That is all well and good but Souths allegedly have more than 35k members and they have avg crowds less than half that, there is something deeper, cultural that has people apathetic about attending games, particularly in Sydney. Going to games should be very easy, comfortable & affordable and in Sydney I don't think it ticks any of those boxes, or, at least, people don't perceive it to.

Difference is in types of memberships. Those $'s are due to number of full season members. Souths might have 35k members but probably closer to 14-15k are full season members.
