Something of a crowd building on the gold coast. Unfortunately you can count the Titans fans on one hand.

So Knights on old boys day, in a similar ladder position to the Tigers saying goodbye to their captain get 23k vs the Tigers in the same situation get 6k. What joke of a club. If the NRL were to cull any Sydney club the tigers would be well and truly the first to go

The comp is too long. Every year I find myself wishing the regular season would just end a few weeks out. I've barely watched games this year but come the finals I'll check out the better match ups.

This year it's even worse with players dropping like flies. It's becoming survival of the fittest.

Ideally a shorter season would be better, but our clubs just cannot afford the inevitable drop in cash flow if we drastically reduce the length of the season.

And introducing a mid season competition, while the regular season "takes a break" is a fantasy.

Canberra v Penrith tomorrow not looking too good.

Hopefully Dogs v Warriors next Sunday night gets a decent crowd.

Depends, a shorter season doesn't hurt pay TV, only fta. If most of our media income was from pay TV then a shorter season would be very achievable.

Can you further explain that frankly bonkers statement??

Well pay TV's return is from subscribers, so if we play 26 rounds or 22 they will get the same number of subscribers, I suspect very few people cancel subscriptions at seasons end. If you increase clubs playing this will likely lead to even more subscribers so a 20 team 22 round season is likely to be more valuable to pay TV than a 26 round 16 team comp.

Fta however gets its money from advertising so a shorter season with less games hits it hard.

Thereby if majority of media money was coming from pay TV then shorter season is more feasible.
