You understand that Pay TV has, and generates advertising too, right?

Well pay TV's return is from subscribers, so if we play 26 rounds or 22 they will get the same number of subscribers, I suspect very few people cancel subscriptions at seasons end. If you increase clubs playing this will likely lead to even more subscribers so a 20 team 22 round season is likely to be more valuable to pay TV than a 26 round 16 team comp.

Fta however gets its money from advertising so a shorter season with less games hits it hard.

Thereby if majority of media money was coming from pay TV then shorter season is more feasible.

No attractive content = No money from advertisers Pay TV or not, so I don't think your point is 100% valid. Surely subscription monies would only be a piece of the pie (guessing say 20%??)

With the new TV deal isn't our season reduced by around 2 to 3 weeks, as there will be international break and Origin is staggered differently? Or is my maths wrong?

Or is it no so much the length that people are concerned about, but the number of games?

Crowd numbers were a terrible read in the paper today.

2016 open the doors. Cheap memberships cheap GA tickets Cheap kids tickets.
Real family tickets, none of this 1 adult 1 kid shit.
Get people back to the game.
Only then should clubs think about raising prices again.

Big crowd in for the local A grade grand final at Remondis yesterday. Over 5000 through the turnstiles for 3 senior grades.

There was a great crowd at Penrith yesterday too. Plenty of St Clair fans there (me included) hoping to see the club win their first premiership.

It's only Monday too, deserves 50k to send Hodges off in his last regular season game.

Thursday just fecks everything up.

Best sales of the year were today, haven't seen tickets sell at that speed for a while. Most of 722, almost all of 720, 710 and 709 all went today. Pax is probably up about 37,750 now

More than I thought.

It's not quite as bad as that match at Seiffert Oval when the Gumbies were in the Stupor 12 final.

Isn't the SFS closer to majority of Souths fans? I'll give them someway due to Thursday night but crowd looks absolutely woeful.

i've heard plenty of times that the majority of rabbitohs fans live in western sydney these days

get used to shit crowds on thursday nights people. it's going to get shit crowds like monday nights, but probably worse because the thursday night games are live on FREE TO AIR. they should have nrl on friday nights, saturdays, and sundays ONLY

If you cannot comprehend that Foxtel would not make as much money in 22 rounds as they would in 26 rounds you have completely lost the plot.
