The year I lived in London I literally heard nothing about them. I still have no idea what area their field is in.

I assume the Stoop still in Twickenham.

I lived there for four and heard almost nothing about them also, I had to seek them out.

To be fair even Union didn't get much of a gig in London, it's Football, Football and Football.

Actually I just looked it up, the ground is home to Barnet FC but is in Canons Park.

Capacity 3500 seats. Seems about right!

Looked like another good crowd for the Warriors V Penrith trial at Rotarua on the weekend.

Anyone know the figure?

Bit of a beat up today in the tele about Parramattas home game in Darwin this season being scheduled by the NRL to be against Penrith. Surely this game should be played in western sydney.

Well whoever decided it is silly, A local rivalry game like this being sent to Darwin just makes no sense.

Why send a crappy game to Darwin. If the NRL are fair dinkum in spreading the game, give Darwin a blockbuster and fans from western Sydney can travel to Darwin middle of winter and make a weekend of a big game.
It is the sending a shit game to Darwin that would be the problem.

a blockbuster :sarcasm:
Yeah
Lets put a blockbuster in a venue that can barely fit 10k
They should have sent one of those uesless QLD sides that no one in Sydney will travel across the street to see

Eels fault for booking the NT game for that round before the draw was announced and then for refusing to change it once the draw was released, despite the NRL asking if they wanted to. Seward didn't seem too fussed considering he is quoted as saying the Penrith game wouldn't have been "off limits" for NT anyway.

Penrith dont pull the biggest crowds at Parra stadium compared to a couple other clubs but f**k me it would be a bigger crowd than whatever will show up in Darwin, and IF Penrith and Parra are both doing well towards the end of the year then this could be pretty embarrassing.

Why is it embarrassing? The Northern Territory are getting a top class game of NRL. Parra should be commended for spreading the sport! Typical crisis article from terrorgraph!

A late round in the season and say Penrith are sitting somewhere from 1-5 and Parra somewhere from 5-9, the teams are pushing for the top 4/8 spots, it would get 25k or more.

What was the Sydney crowd for this fixture last year?

We only played once, it was at Penrith and was close to a sellout, it was pre origin i think.

Edit: it was round 12 during origin, Hayne didnt play. To get 19-20k with no Hayne during origin is pretty good at Penrith.

What was the Darwin crowd last season? Im all for spreading nrl games around and good on Parra for going to Darwin but this game is pretty much garaunteed to be an above average crowd if it is in Sydney.

Edit: 9.5k in Darwin last year.

It was actually played twice last season. It drew 14,448 at Parra Stadium in round 4 and 19,141 at Penrith in round 12.

Hmm shouldnt of missed that. 14k is poor no doubt, we had only played finals once in ten years at that point. Since going to the prelim last year we should be pulling bigger away crowds, that being said q4k is hard to argue with :/

you pulled 51k in round 7 or 8, so it's clearly not just because of results.

penrith vs eels isn't the biggest sydney derby around for sure. maybe the other option was moving that easter monday game vs tigers, or a dogs game? you never know.

fact is, eels pull good crowds against pretty much everyone if its in the right timeslot so you'll be missing out for sure by playing a home game in NT.

it's hardly the end of the world.
