I am a raiders fan.

But if you have to have a Monday game. It should be at the interstate venues.

I am not sure about Melbourne / Brisbane / Auckland traffic, maybe they could handle some aswell.

But really the prime spots should be
Canberra
Newcastle
Wollongong
Townsville
Gold Coast.

Townsville means no-one from outside the Greater Townsville region can attend. This reduces their crowds significantly.

Sydney has public transport, and being stuck in traffic for 30 mins or so isn't the same as driving 400km.

According to Townsville City Council, the Townsville population is a touch over 189000. Its not huge, but its a decent population. Its been a while since I was up there, but its not that much of an effort to get out to the Cowboys, surely a Monday night at the footy is not a bad option for an easy night out. Out of interest, does anyone know what the average mix is in relation to Townsville/greater region match attendance is?

Last year two Monday night games were season lows of 11k, about 4k below their season average. A 25% drop.

I like how everyone making out that Monday is a great night and if anything teams should play more of them, just not there team.

it literally is impossible for most people to get home and get to the game for Sydney people.

finish work on a Monday at 5-6 get home at 6-7 they are not then getting to a game by 7.

I have lived in rural towns before not Townsville. But lets be honest the drop off will be bigger in Sydney (even if you miss out on a few crazies who drive four hours to go to the footy). For perfectly logical and acceptable reasons.

Is it not possible to go straight from work to the footy once or twice a year? Not like we're talking every week out of the 11 or 12 home games.

Depends which Sydney teams you are talking about. Few, if any, Souffs supporters have jobs so they can jump the turnstiles on the train at 4pm and be out at ANZ in time for the Under 20's kick off.

Jokes aside, the "literally impossible" claim is a bit far fetched.

The rise in memberships has been driven by more choices of packages. Almost every possible plan is available whether your a dog or an adult that wants to only attend 3 games.

Great work by the clubs . Hopefully by 2020 all clubs will have a members base of 20K or more. .
