2015 Membership Discussion

then how come last years figures have so quickly almost caught up to 2015 figures?

either growth in the last 3-4 weeks has been exceedingly poor, or reporting has been poor.

i'm inclined to go with the latter for now

Id say youre right. ALeading up to Xmas, interest would be higher and their would be a will to buy. After Xmas day and over New Years, interest in numbers and demand for packages would drop off massively.

Wait until after Australia Day (that seems to be real beginning of the Aussie year). If there isnt a dramatic increase within a week or 2 of Jan 26 then it is ok to be pessimistic....

Noname,
still thinking about this?

Consider this as well

Souths All Game - General Admission Red & Green adult is $245 ( vs Knights $140)
Souths All Game - as above Junior is $95 (vs Knights $60)

Knights are practically giving away their All game seats vs Souths on pricing. I wonder if that is a reason for Knights financial issues? Why buy a Knights Non game membership when the All Game membership is a couple of dollars more.

Comparing a non-seated membership to a seated one is not an apples for apples comparison mate. The Knights GA memberships are for the hill area only, its the reason they are so cheap

The seated ones start at $175 for adults and $95 for kids

Oh and if you think a difference of $60 is only "a couple of dollars more" then you must have stacks of 50s as toilet paper at your house

I'd actually forgotten that GA memberships were for the hill. Good point...any comparisons there are moot. You have to practically "give away tickets" when you don't get a seat with it.

My best memories of football , are sitting on the hill either Redfern or SCG , and a real buzz on sell out days.

i also get the impression Manly fans like their hill as well.

However appears now you are arguing , General admission hill seats do not count as as ticketed according to your "moot". lol

So in guess you now have turned around and see little value in your initial suggestion to see Membership details split between ticketed and non ticketed. I still think "total members" and "member receipts " are the way to go.

It is the reporting - 3 clubs haven't released figures and 4 haven't updated numbers in at least a month. Every club that has reported as of this month their membership figures are showing double digit growth except the Broncos (8.52%), Panthers (6.40%) and Dragons (2.82%). The only clubs that are reporting a number lower to this time last year are 3 of those that haven't provided updated numbers for over a month

The NRL normally takes control of the numbers in the month leading up to kickoff so we'll get a more concrete idea.

Bulldogs and Eels have just cracked 13k, btw

What are you even talking about? Of course they're counted as ticketed members. I'm just pointing out why they're not expensive. I couldn't care less how much each club's ticketed memberships cost (you're the one that seems stuck on that point) - I'm interested in a breakdown for the sole purpose of explaining crowd figures. Doesn't matter if someone sits on a seat or on the hill - they're still counted in the crowd figures.

I said making comparions in what each club charges is moot given there are so many variables including the average income of the target market, how well the club is going, etc.

Edit - those are great numbers for Parra...especially with no Hayne this year.

A few weeks out from the season starting and some clubs haven't even released their numbers. Amateur hour?

The numbers that are updated in the main are hardly overwhelming.Dragons/Roosters behind 2014.

IMO EEls/Dragons/Bulldogs should have 20,000 by season's start.Broncos near 40,000.
How the hell can we crack 400,000 the figure mentioned as the plan, when the growth is little for 2015 based on figures to date?

I am a league nut,but get depressed when the game looks like its stagnating at times.Fire up FFS.

The good thing is it may be stagnant but we can see how crap the clubs are and NRL at marketing. If we had whizz bang marketing, a decent stadium strategy, decent game times and we're still stagnant I'd be worried. There's a shed load of areas the game and clubs could be much better run so there is hope!

i think the eels numbers are fairly good so far, considering they haven't made the finals for a few years and that they don't have hayne and haven't really replaced him

Five dollars per game difference

when i went to see West Ham on New Years Day I paid 53 quid for a seat behind the goal
Cheapest seat available on the day. Thats 100 Aussie for a single game.

Five bucks is not much

Parra have not updated for quite a while, the above figure is not current.

Should we expect and increase after the Nine's? Was there even any spike last year after the Nines's?

One of my gripes was that there were no membership stalls around the ground (none that I saw) Would of thought it would of been awesome if each club had a few players and staff in stalls signing up members/ interacting with the fans between games. Rather than sitting around in the western stand..

When i went to the first thunder game at the showgrounds a few weeks ago they had a small marquee with one (maybe2?) players signing autographs, photos etc.... Its a great idea and something NRL clubs should look at for injured players in the heart of the season. Obvisouly the gameday squad isn't proper for this sort of thing but every club has multiple injured players on hand after a few rounds so they should be utilised in fan engagement.

Maybe some have done this before but i have never seenit first hand at the footy

there definitely was because 9s last year was 2 weeks later, so almost just before the season. It always spikes then.
