"Somewhat agree" is progress!

The West Tigers is a good example of poor naming.

I believe that if the NRL were strategically smart they would have called the West Tigers "Balmain Campbelltown Tigers" and left the Wests name and magpie emblem for an expansion club, namely the West Australian Magpies. I reckon the West magpie fans would have rather settled for that than what the administrators came up with. But that's too much common sense. The benefits would have been the maintenance of the iconic Balmain name along with a true link with Campbelltown in the name.

The longsuffering Wests Magpies fans could have had some future fun in the sun with the advent of an expansion club named the West Australian Magpies. Once again continuing a link with a great club of the past and also maintaining its colours and emblem. But this is too much logic for our so called marketing strategists/experts!

Having said this, I believe that the WA/Perth Pirates is a good name for this proposed expansion club, so a quandary exists. But then this sort of marketing and strategic thinking would not have entered the minds of the current crop of administrators.

Fair points but the whole point of re-naming the Roosters to Eastern Suburbs is to re-connect themselves with the supporters in THEIR area as opposed to getting support from elsewhere. If they boost the amount of members within the eastern suburbs.

People shouldn't get the idea that just because Souths have a much greater membership than the Roosters then that automatically means we have more supporters in the area. In fact it's about a 50/50 split. The Roosters just need their fans to commit. By rebranding themselves as EASTERN SUBURBS they can connect more to the supporters. I guarantee you NOT ONE Roosters supporter refers to their team as Sydney.

I've had many talks with friends as well as various supporters of the Roosters and they all agree the name should change. The fans have spoken and the club should rebrand and re-align themselves with the Eastern Suburbs.

"The West tigers is an example of poor naming" Sheer genius at work. The complexity of what you've done will unfortunately prove too much for the minds of the simpletons here. The way you got a 2 word name wrong, then identified your incorrect version of it as poor naming is just brilliant. That linguistic manouvre shall be hereby known as an LJC, in dedication to the great mind that spawned it. You know how people know what a double entendre is . . . well an LJC will be just as acknowledged.

You have far more logic than the games marketing/admin team.
You honestly should put these ideas forward to the top people running the game.
Brilliant. Just brilliant. These pearls of wisdom deserve better than this tosser forum.

I think you are secretly one of the suits in the NRL just giving some ideas ( and let's be honest here . . . damn superb ideas ) a run under an anonymous pseudonym.
Either way, you are a profound and forward thinker. These ideas don't sprout from the mind of Joe Average.
C'mon . . . tell us . . . who are you? . . . Richo? . .Smith ?

Your quandary has me intrigued. You first pluck a name out of the air for a club that doesn't exist . . . and locate them in another state . . . then you pluck another name out of the air for the team of that state . . . and you are now at a crossroads because you have 2 different imaginary names for your imaginary team.
The quandary is in your sandbox.

Just a genuine fan with an interest in a code that has many issues, unlike yourself it seems!

ATM I would suggest that the West Magpie part of the franchise would prefer its club to be reinvented in the form of West Australian Magpies. That certainly would promote the identity again. But it looks like too much logic in that idea for some in this folder. The dribble approach isn't welcomed but we have free speech so dribble on if that's your go.

The sandbox may be full of quicksand for some? Have a splash champ!

That number hasn't moved since before Xmas, and the release of a the singlet jersey of a draw with more Monday nights than Souths fans missing teeth.

I thought the NRL and broadcasters were pretty good at giving the Cowboys what they wanted. All bar 3 home games are Saturday's

I reckon 3 is a enough to deter people from getting a season tickets, especially out of towners. What do you think? The value just isn't there if you are missing three games.

Id also bet serious money that the of the unscheduled games, there is going to be at least one more Monday night game also.

It looks like Fox like the Cowboys, as the obviously rate well for them.

You credit your own ideas as being full of logic.
You invent an imaginary name for a team, then invent a second imaginary name for that same team and then ponder the problem that now exists for the greater game of rugby league. Having to choose between either of your names.

You seem to be convinced that whatever loopy idea you come up with is all of a sudden a reality. That if you think it, it therefore is.
Take a step back and come to terms with the fact that you are a roosters supporter living in Newcastle that thinks he speaks on behalf of the old Western Suburbs fans and knows what's best for them.

Seek therapy my friend. There exists a whole world beyond the boundaries of your hat.

Thanks for wrap Rosco! You might take a look at yourself champ!

I'm making a fair call I think. (After all its a comment just like yours)

If I were a Wests Magpies fan I would be happier with a compromise that actually had the West name and logo existing with more relevance.

Perhaps I'm out of touch, but at the moment, I don't see an obvious presence of the Wests Magpies in the current set up? Mind you this has been all brought about by our administrators whom fell on their sword after the Super league war which was 'won' in the publics eyes by the ARL but the ARL gave News Ltd/superleague the axe to our game!

That's the cause of this mess . My solution is only a compromise that I think is OK not ideal but workable.

It would be interesting to see the break up of season ticket holders other general supporter memberships. I know the Knights have listed on their site a 'Digital Membership' which is new this year (don't know if other clubs have the same?) ...is there a break down of that data around?

The difference between the haves and have nots in years to come is going to be massive. If the NRL can force through a financial equalisation policy will be interesting to see. I hope for some of the clubs sake they have not got size of membership as a kpi for grant payment!

Richo claims last years Sth's membership was about 50% ticketed. Broncos last year on facebook announced that only a third of their memberships were full ticketed. I'd expect similar figures of most clubs.

This year has been really disappointing , there has hardly been any media coverage regarding membership, no updates in the papers, no battles between teams like last years dogs vs eels first to 20k
Its as though everyone but Souths has just forgotten about membership, really weird considering its such important revenue stream for a clubs who are not really flush with funds
Here's hoping it picks up with less then a month from kickoff
