Anyone notice a decrease in focus around memberships this year after a pretty significant push over the past 5 years?

Maybe it's just my club but seems to be the same old gimmicks and just a general lack of effort and care factor.

I was thinking the same thing but then just read an article from the Raiders saying Stuart is running a comp for the players to see who can sign up the most members. Winner gets a fully catered box for the first home game for the charity of their choice.

Eels have just started a sign up a friend initiative. You get rewards for signing up 1, 5 or 10 members. The member who signs up the most new members wins a car.

definitely in the NRL as a whole.

tigers has been about the same, so pretty average.

actually probably less, we had some TV ad last time.

maybe they're waiting to make some massive noise in 2 weeks rather than a little bit of noise for 2 months.

Ad campaign, radio, tv, membership race and in general a lot of talk about it 2 weeks before and after the season starts could generate quite a lot of interest

Are there any membership races this year?

Always thought they did a reasonable job of raising awareness and getting people to sign up.

They've rang me 3 times and sent a flood of texts to sign up.

James Maloney rang me and I signed up my dad again too. Even signed up myself despite not being a chooks supporter

Seems like the NRL and the Clubs are concentrating much more on BTL (below the line) spend this year, rather than ATL (above the line spend) like previous years.

Probably a good thing.

Yeah the chooks seem to have ramped things up in the last week.

Still got a way to go, but it's ticking over alot faster now.

Rather than ending cash on advertising on TV and traditional media they are focusing more on direct communication. Utilising databases to directly contact people who are potential members. Email,Facebook, texts, calls etc.

I was rung by Tigers. The Only reason I can think for this is that a bought a hill ticket for the game against Panthers last year- possibly one of the worst experience s of my life.

Only problem with that is it mainly reaches existing fans not new ones. The again I see nothing from the nrl about how it is going to get some of the 99% of Australians not currently going to games to attend them.

Id say that's the next phase. Eg getting touch footy, junior players etc etc going to games, so they step up to membership in the coming years

Its actually quite a smart approach...

You know they are interested in attending games and its accepted fact that up-selling to an already loyal customer is much more effective than trying to find more from a random crowd.

Pushing memberships on people is a sell for a later stage. First, you need to make sure the customer is interested.

Thanks.

But am waiting for confirmation for reciprocal ticket rights for when the Roosters play the Knights in Newcastle.

If this happens I'm in.

As of now the draw isn't user friendly for out of town members.

If you can't make it to games you should still get a supporter membership for Roosters.

I wonder how the inequity of costs of a membership effect people's willingness to purchase. For some difference is significant ie souths 11 home games plus charity shield plus 4 away games for $245. Compare that to say manly which is $230 to stand with no cover. If I was a manly fan I'd consider that a bit of rip off in comparison. Titans premium $549 compared to storm premium $485. Maybe if prices were equal around the league more people might take up memberships?

Value for money is also questionable in some packages.

I've got Souths red and green reserved which is now classified as diamond.

It includes 14 games for $395 it's great value imo.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have set a new NRL Membership record today, surpassing their 2014 Membership total with just under a month until the first game of the 2015 NRL season. Over 30,637 Members have answered the call to Stand Above the Rest and to be there when the season kicks off.

In the Rabbitohs’ Premiership winning year of 2014, a total of 30,563 proud Members Stood Above the Rest, but that total has today been eclipsed at the half-way point of the Club’s pre-season playing schedule and is now marching towards 31,000 Members.

Every new Member now represents a new NRL record and as the Rabbitohs Family marches towards a 2015 target of 35,000 Members and beyond.

The Rabbitohs are currently 22% up on Membership compared to the same time last year, but we need your help to grow the Rabbitohs Family even further by telling your family and friends now is the time to become a Rabbitohs Member.

Congratulations to all of the Rabbitohs Family on achieving this record!

Up the Rabbitohs!
