2015 NRL Jersey & Sponsorship Discussion

Regarding the Titans ... reading some of the hate from people I previously thought had a clue is pretty sad. The two Docs have it right. The club was allowed by Gallop to dig itself into some sort of incestuous love-in between Searle and Cartwright. Even the old dinosaur of Broughton couldn't take any more of it.

Ever since the original Giants, the Coast has been used as the retirement village for expatriate NSWailers, although I am sure that there will be host of people who will refute this with examples such as Bailey and Campbell. Nevertheless, the club has turned a corner, engaged a new recruitment strategy which includes a much closer relationship with the local rugby league community.

2015 will be a 13-16 finish for us but at least we will be able to field a competitive team with an average age in the low 20's. I am looking forward to watching the club pull itself out of the mire and although I agree that WA and other areas are deserving of a franchise, I certainly don't agree it should be at the expence of the Gold Coast.

Finally on topic, our jersey looks terrible with an incomplete V, more like a man-bra. Let's hope that Annesley can rustle-up some a sponsor ... perhaps he's regrets rejecting one of the local escort services and we can only hope that there will be a happy ending :)

It'd be an alright jersey if it wasn't the 20th anniversary jersey - instead it's just a re-hash of the same tribal design idea that gets hauled out every year as a 'heritage' shirt, the other year it was greenstone, this year wood, next year it might be a bone carving - who knows?

No offence to any Warriors, but what do they have to celebrate after 20 years! Only really that they are still around and didn't go the way of the Crushers and Reds.

Celebrating the culture that they are apart of and admiring something that is truly an integral part of their club (really a sense their true foundation) seems something much more fitting for celebration then their original away jersey (which BTW isn't all that) that wasn't even deemed good enough to be the home jersey.

Sure, it covers-off the "Warriors" brand & it can be argued that they're celebrating maori heritage, and it'll sell like hotcakes for sure - but there's a place for these designs.. and in my opinion it's training jerseys and the Nines, where something a bit "out there" fits the occasion,

Why?

Why should the core of the clubs being, their home, their people, their customs, etc be restricted to such lowly areas if they don't want it to be?

and it doesn't muddy the clubs identity the way that wearing unusual colours during the regular season does. (Supposedly our colours are black, white & red).

But when you get down to it this is the clubs identity!

The culture we're born into and the way we choose to represent ourselves is our identity.

Meanwhile there's a perfectly good design from the inaugural year of the club that's almost been forgotten, in the teams foundation colours.

You know I remember back in late 94 or early 95 when people first saw the Warriors, Cowboys, Reds and Crushers jerseys, how everyone though they looked like crap (in my experience even most of their own fans to be), at the time they were universally considered to be the worst RL jerseys of all time.

One of the main complaints that I remember about the Warriors jerseys was why didn't the red stripe and the second green stripe continue onto the sleeve.

It's funny how things change and yet they stay the same, I can remember older fans back then complaining about how all 'modern jerseys' look sh!t and how ridiculous the Chocolate Soldiers look in their new licorice all sorts jersey (now considered by most to be the greatest Panthers jersey ever), how lime green will never make a good colour for a football team (now people outside the club complain when we do jerseys that aren't 90% lime), etc, etc, etc.

I've come to the conclusion that every generation of fan wants things to stay the same as they were when they were a child, in some strange nostalgic 'remember the good old days' thing, and that's why they're normally so adverse to change, even when it's for the better.

For some reason or another I never seemed to pickup this "nostalgic thing" as I so eloquently put it .

I reckon simple solid "Titans blue" is their best bet for the main, then do the crazier designs for the one-offs...

So basically the 2013 jersey without the reproductive organs.

The Titans have one of the best color palettes to work with yet they continually stuff it up. Their first Jersey was OK, but since then they've all been terrible

I actually think there colours, whilst original, are very effeminate and have never really worked.

There was like 194 teams in the comp with blue and yellow. They should have went red and yellow like the suns.

We share one thing with your guys Canard and that's both our teams have the most unimaginative names ever but must admit that the Blackhawks has resonance.

I don't mind the Titans per se, I mean it has little resonance with the Gold Coast but its not a completely unusable nickname especially the trident motif.

The Cowboys on the other hand is f**king atrocious. We should have been the Crocs, Marlins or Cyclones not so Yankee Doodle Dandy shite.

Whenever someone asks who I support I always say "North Queensland".

The Crocs would've been perfect. Long live the animal mascots.

So much drivel!

The Titans colours are perfect. It's a city on the beach. Sky blue (sky), dark blue (ocean), yellow (sand). The Suns would have killed for that colour scheme, rather than red&yellow "surf lifesaving" colours.

The execution is the issue, not the colour combination.
Dolphins would have been a better name, but since it was vetoed, something else marine would have been better. Stingers/Stingrays for example.

Re: Cowboys, Crocodiles was already in use (Townsville Crocodiles NBL) and basketball was at its peak mid-90's with Townsville one of the best supported teams. Would prefer a more Aussie name (Bushrangers, Drovers etc) but Cowboys isn't the worst, presents some good marketing opportunities which the club has done a decent job of capitalising on.

They're norths devils colours and I doubt anyone would have called them effeminate, especially in the old days of 'bashup park' when tommy was coach.

Completely wrong do some research, the Townsville Suns didn't rename themselves to the Crocs until many years after the Cowboys came into existence.

What you think Im some sort of plastic fan like these wankers that go for Manly or St George but have never even been to Sydney???

Yeah, how can anyone call 2 shades of blue "effeminate"

For mine its the execution, unlike the Devils its focus is too much on the pastel blue and weird babyshit yellow.
