The coverage has been a step below channel 9 quality I reckon. Graphics are terrible (too much crap on screen - who wants to see player's heads constantly), the commentary is too loud and on field/crowd sound is too low. Hope they sort that out

I was going to say something about the graphics. They suck, the font is too chunky, and the graphics take up waaaaaay too much space on the screen. Should either have the toolbar style at the bottom of the screen like the previous 3 world cups or the small square in the top left like Ch9 used to have before the 2010/11 Ashes. We dont need to see every player's face. With all the graphics on the screen, added with the 2 Fox Sports use on the top right, you might as well start watching the game using binoculars at home.

And also, not happy that we now have 3 commentators per stint like Ch9 does, just so the match can accommodate more commentators. There's already way too many commentators as there is. That list of 30 that I posted could've easily been reduced by half

Yeah, the faces graphic would be OK if they only show at the start of each change in batsman/bowler, then just reduce to smaller graphic with text only while the ball is in play.
Definitely takes up too much room and is unnecessarily distracting during play.

Would also be nice if the speed radar showed up for every ball rather than just the odd one here and there.

Tossing up whether to get myself an orange Tui shirt for the 3 games I'm going to (NZ/Eng, NZ/Aus, Wellington Quarter).
Not that I'd trust myself to catch a ball one-handed at the best of times (let alone with drunken punters all around me, myself included!), but seeing two from two matches seems like an OK investment (even if 50 people catch one over the tournament that would still be $5000-$20000 each depending on how far Black Caps go), at worst got another shirt to wear around the house/gym/etc.

Actually some games have used the 2 commentators per stint so I suppose only the bigger games have used the 3 commentators.

Its been a breathe of fresh air watching some games and not having to hear the Ch 9 commentators all the time.

With the graphics, I reckon the last WC was better. Just put a toolbar down the bottom with the score, over, run rate, both batsmen's score, the bowling figures. That's it nothing else.

I don't need to see their faces all the time.

lol

They died when Kenya smacked them in the 1996 world cup

been a rabble ever since (Lara aside)

Hey hey hey you give Chanderpaul his dues!

As atrocious as that Kenya loss was, I think West Indies cricket truly died in that 1996 semi-final choke against Australia.

That imo is the worst choke in the history of ODI cricket, worse than any South African choke.

They're $30 NZD (plus whatever postage if ordered online). Just re-read the rules on the Tui page, it's just the first person at each game to catch a six, so at most would be 23 people dividing the winnings (between $10.8K-$43.4K if that happens).

Great to see the first upset of the tournament yesterday (even if West Indies are a bit of a rabble at the moment, any team chasing down a 300+ total is a great feat).

To throw more salt on lack of free to air coverage in the cricket world cup

Ch9 have decided to show LIVE all 3 RL Club challenge fixtures, Sat Sun and Mon mornings at 6.30AM on GEM

I don't think there is enough room in the WC schedule to replay any games, imagine if this cyclone washes out a weeks worth of games ?

I dont think there are too many more games in Qld anyway. If the weather forecasts are right, the pitch will be under water.

Which is a shame really.

In the 2011 WC the Australia vs Sri Lanka match got rained out and that cost crucial points.
Reserve days make a lot of sense but probably impractical with broadcasting/tickets etc.

If the forecast is terrible they could try backup plans to move games to another venue in advance.

Forecast not looking great

But as the BIG SHOW so positively mentioned on the tele last night, hopefully they can squeeze in 20 overs each to make it a confirmed game (and more of a contest, Bangers a better chance)

Which if it does happen this way, you are playing a t20 game really, in a 50 over ODI world cup tournament

Its just not cricket

Something else to keep an eye on...

The longterm forecast for Auckland next weekend which is when the huge NZ v AUS game is being played is for rain...

So if aussie only get 1pt from the bangers and 1pt from the NZ game... It could leave them a little exposed...

Only 3 games from memory because the Qld Govt didn't want to put up any cash to secure more.
