He has as much ability as any winger in the comp. However just about every player goes through a complacent phase during their career where they slacken off. I'm confident that by the end of the year he'll come good again.
I think a lot of it can be put down to the team's inability to get the most out of its quality outside backs in general.
The thing with Aku is, are we ever questioning his ability to get over the try line or cause problems out wide in space? I don't think so. He's not exactly bombing tries or getting physically dominated by other wingers - that would concern me.
But he's not bullying other teams either and he's not doing the extra special things in attack that made him the best winger in the game.
I'm confident he can come back from a slump, and I also don't believe the 'slump' is actually that bad. I'd love us to get some decent ball to both him and Gagai. When they actually have space you still see the class is there, Gagai put Uate over for a try a few weeks back that was brilliant. It's all there, just a combination of both being a bit down and the team struggling to provide a platform.
