There was always going to be a dip going up against the Ashes due to competition for casuals, but a blowout of that proportion and the game essentially being done and dusted so quick would've had a massive impact on the average.

The final figure is actually a very decent effort IMO. These types of situations certainly don't warrant new records being set.

It will be interesting to see what the ratings were for the nine networks three sports coverage last night.

Without the Broncos and Cowboys playing last night it would not surprise if the cricket and soccer topped the ratings in Brisbane. While here in Sydney the league should be top followed closely by the cricket.

Last night only narrowly avoided that lowest rating game of the year title. Not sure what Nine were thinking..
