Oh right ... if he's not playing a shot then fair enough

It's more that he's playing the line, but not worrying about movement. It's not a genuine leave, but nor is it a genuine shot. A semi deliberate miss is probably a crude way of putting it....but it's kind of like that.

He's refusing to follow or fish after the ball, which is good

All the best openers play and miss a lot, because they don't chase the swing. Guys like Warner and Hayden can bully the life out of a side, but they're always likely to nick off....whether they're on 13 or 213, they chase the ball

I really like that Renshaw doesn't
No arguments here

Steve Smith average a hundred every three matches. Pretty bloody handy for a guy who took 12 matches to score his first....

Is that hiney on the cricket after his 20th kraken ?
lol, the poor bastard got absolutely smashed by the security guard. and then got a knee in the back by the copper for his troubles. He will wake up tomorrow with a hangover and a 8k fine hanging over his head.

Just the hangover for me :)

Tugger took 27 tests didn't he?

In this day and age, and he keeps churning them out, Smiths average could be around 75 when he retires

I reckon he will become our best batsman behind Bradman, give it 2-3 years more

We haven't had a batter who has done this before.

Like I said in the match thread, if Smith plays as many tests as Waugh and Ponting and continues this strike rate for tonnes he'll have 56 hundreds. Tendulkar scored 51.

It's a hard ask though at 27 and yet to play 50 tests. He'd have to play 120 more matches... so maybe aggregate and average is more likely.

He's already achieved a hell of a lot for a bloke most people wrote off as a potentially ok leg spinner who could bat a bit

Indeed.
He was quite an unlikely cricketer and had quite an unusual batting style. TBH, he still does, but it's very effective.
He was always an outstanding fielder, His bowling was average or just above.
But this is one that the selectors got right. I've no doubt that his attitude filtered through the fields of management and made its way to the top echelons of CA.
I'm glad they've shown faith in him.

She only faced 14 overs....why the hell wouldn't you let someone striking at 190 have most of the strike?
