Ashes tests always draw a crowd, it's the other 3 years in between where they struggle. The ridiculous cost and the fun police have plenty to do with it IMO,

I see they have installed a pool at the Gabba for this test.

Id piss in it for sure if i was in it, even if i didn't really need to go i'd squeeze a bit out just for the personal satisfaction of knowing everybody else is bathing in my urine at the cricket.

The one that gets me is "he plays and misses too often!!!"

I don't see it all. To me he plays deliberately inside the line and doesn't chase anything. Most of those so called plays and misses are as good as leaves IMO.

The good openers play and miss a lot, Taylor made an art form of it.

What is to be gained by playing to deliberately miss? ... you are just risking if something unexpected happens

He reminds me of Tubby in a way tbh. More in his temperament than anything, he's a completely different batsman but in the way he opens I think there's a bit of Taylor there. He's just never flustered, never hurried. He plays his pace and he's happy with that, much like Tubby

Oozie made 180 against the Saffas and played and missed a gazillion times, the pitch was doing a bit and he plays straight

He's not "playing", really. He's allowing the ball to pass him and ensuring he doesn't get out of shape or play outside his body. That's how you nick out. It's just a different way of leaving of the ball really.

Plus by playing inside the line of the ball you cover the LBW if it does hoop back. Play the line, don't chase the outswing, keep yourself compact and you'll score runs

Langer was another who played and missed his way to plenty of tons.

All the best openers play and miss a lot, because they don't chase the swing. Guys like Warner and Hayden can bully the life out of a side, but they're always likely to nick off....whether they're on 13 or 213, they chase the ball

I really like that Renshaw doesn't

Oh right ... if he's not playing a shot then fair enough
