In the last year that I played in the Sunday hard wicket comp, our team had a rule that each incoming batsmen had to nominate a shot that they were going to play to the first ball faced. And had to play it no matter what. Sparked a number of collapses.

And if you wanted to spend even more time in the clubhouse you could've told the opposition what shot you were gonna play.

I'm hoping at least one person said they were just going to shoulder arms. Or a ramp shot

I always nominated back foot defense (coz I usually opened the batting), which never got me out. I don't think anyone of the muppets in my team nominated 'shoulder arms', nor a ramp, but we had several 'reverse sweeps', and one 'draw shot'. I think the 'shoulder arms' wasn't popular, as I don't recall any of the blokes ever letting a ball go outside off-stump.
