Just looked on Instagram, various pictures at all angles and so far the crowd is looking very pro Easts...

Did rabbie Warren just say the crowd looks around 17K ?:sarcasm:

Why does the senile old twit bother guessing crowds
Well in excess of 20K there I'd say
Maybe even 25K

No wonder everyone is switching to foxtels coverage

Its about time clubs take responsibility and start attracting more bums on seats... something has to be done cheaper tickets, members get better deals to attend away games, better beer selections at games...

I think he did say 17000. Talk about underselling the game. Western side is all but full along with in goals so atleast 22000.

Rabby terrible stuff

Couldn't disagree more, humidity is far worse than dry heat, the thick putrid air stays.

I tend to agree but there is no denying that they're massively different. Due to humidity, I highly doubt that the UV index ever reaches 11-12. The BOM frequently recommends that kids and elderly stay out of the sun for 3 hours of Solar noon.

In any case no f**king excuse today. If marketed properly then this coulda been in the high 30ks if marketed correctly. Pretty good turnout on the East's side of things.

Crowd is decent. Given the way games are marketing, etc can't really have asked for more.

Rabs guesstimated 2/3rds of the crowd

Round 1
100+ year history
Sunday Afternoon

Less than 30k is unacceptable for a 100+ year rivalry, both Souths/Roosters had all those decades to build this game up as the marquee game of the NRL instead it's half-empty stadium. Broncos/Cowboys in a shorter amount of time get greater consistent crowds annually than Souths/Roosters from 95 to today.

Nrl's given up on crowds, your in for a long season of surprise and disappointment lol

Given Thursday Night Football’s proven track record of popularity, fans are predicted to show strong support for live coverage of Thursday night as a regular part of our weekly schedule.
Naturally, we expect there to be an impact on overall crowd numbers as a result of this change
Next year we will regularly have games on two weeknights – Mondays and Thursdays – and this is forecast to affect attendances but the overall impact of our schedule changes will be positive for the game overall.

simply embarrassing
yeah thered been rain around earlier in the day
but it was fine hours before kickoff

should have been 25000 minimum

The Raiders played to a near fullhouse in their first home game as premiers in 1990

People in ponchos, raining on GC or have they come straight from wet and wild? Looks a solid 9k. They must have pulled out all the marketing stops for the opening game.
