2016 Crowd Watch

Why does it matter how the tickets were sold? 80k attended. That's 80k eyes on a live game having a live footy experience. This thread makes it out like it's a bad thing.

I get that it can undervalue the product from time to time but it's also a commercial reality.

Not a bad thing at all, good if anything but fact remains it was still a fire sale. Nice crowd nevertheless and good weather...

What happened to the Blatchy's blues? How did they get that much smaller? No interest in those seats? ticket prices?

Highest rating origin in the metro markets ever
2.708 Million.
4 million overall.
Terrific figures...
So much for people saying the interest was low

Shame it was a bit stodgy as a spectacle

Hows Perth looking ticket sale wise? Always seem to draw very strong crowds over there.

I don't know why people are complaining, fact is we got 80 something thousand, when people he were saying high 60's would be decent.

28k more than what Suncorp will ever get
.....because Suncorp doesn't have the capacity?

Why do Blues fans use this non logical argument? Suncorp's capacity is less than ANZ.
Also, NSW's population is larger than Queensland's, Brisbane's is far smaller than Sydney's...hence the stadium size difference.

Queensland is doing it's job for RL selling out Suncorp, NSW, with a larger population, should be doing the same.
It isn't rocket science.

These coaches, especially Laurie Daley, need to realise that the people we are trying to sell the code to may only watch Origin. They need to produce a lot better than the eyesore brand of football seen over the last 7 Origin games.

Should apply to all coaches in the NRL as well IMO.

Shite advert for the game, i have not heard a good word about it from hardened or casual fans

Criticizing the quality of Origin and finals/rivalry matches has become the norm.
It's very hipster.

You simply can't play expansive football on ANZ at night in winter.
It's greazy, slippery & heavy going.

Suncorp will produce a completely different spectacle simply because of the conditions

Very good points, I also think the "whistle in the pocket" can be very detrimental to the spectacle, both sides were infringing and maybe blowing a few more penalties would speed up the ruck.

It was terrible, both teams were bunched up and not getting up quick enough.

Fitness seemed to be an issue with both sides.

The first NRL State of Origin match of the year is the highest-rating Origin match of all time and the highest-rating program of 2016.

The Queensland defeat of New South Wales in Sydney averaged a capital city audience of 2.708 million viewers (time-adjusted) according to the Nine network, with a national average audience of 3.951 million, peaking at 4.423 million.

The game earned a 57 per cent share of viewers in Sydney and 59 per cent in Brisbane in a major fillip for a Nine network that has struggled to find much ratings joy this year. Nine had a 38.0 per cent channel share for the evening, ahead of Seven’s 13.5 per cent and Ten’s 13.2 per cent.

In a boon for the NRL, the game was also the top program for the night in Melbourne. The game averaged 1.193 million viewers in Sydney, 809,000 in Brisbane, 494,000 in Melbourne, 102,000 in Adelaide and 98,000 in Perth.

Obviously, my point was why bash an 80k crowd when it only comes around 2-3 times a year.If you had of said in 2006 the blues would sell out origin at ANZ in 2016 after 1 series win in 10 years I would have said you were dreaming

1,000 or so off capacity "patchy blues"

Great ratings all round...NSW need to level up the series in Brisbane otherwise the dead rubber could get ugly crowd wise
